LASIK Eye

I am planning on getting LASIK eye surgery, and I am a little nervous. I am getting it done in the USA at a very good doctor...but still, its surgery on my eyes!

Has anyone ever gotten this procedure? I would love to hear people's experiences with it and how your eyes and vision are now.

Just for the record, I have astigmatism and cannot see far distances.

Thanks!

Thanks for the comments everyone! I have a very highly recommend doctor who knows what he is doing, now all I have to do is wait till my appointment.

I can't wait for the morning when I wake up and can see everything clearly!

I had it done 2 years ago in Calgary and had great results. I got the interlase procedure, which is the latest technology. I highly recommend it. See the link below, which describes Interlase:

A word of advice: Never let the price decide where you go for the procedure. Always do your research and go to the best doctor, not the cheapest.

I know of a recent story here in Qatar where someone from Venezuela went to an Egyptian doctor in Doha and they messed up the procedure. There is nothing she can do about it here and last I heard she is going back to Venezuela to try to get the damage undone as best she can.

I had horrible astigmatism, and had to order special made contacts. Lazik gave me 20/20 vision and even now, its 20/40. Yes, I did have to have it retouched once, but the doc told me I would as my eyes were so bad to begin with. They will give you some little eye shields to tape over your eyes for the first night so you don't touch them...and the first day it will feel like you went into a pool with too much chlorine, but they will also give you something like Vicodene to help with the pain and to make you sleep...take it..sleep is the best thing you can do to let them heal. Just watch the next day because you will wake up and the amazing thing is everything will be crystal clear..no glassed or contacts! Keep your eyes moisturized with the drops they give you, and some give you antibiotic drops..use them all up then start with the moisture drops to keep the eye wet...helps with the vision...Good luck, don't worry, doesn't hurt(or mine didn't at all) and enjoy your wonderful vision!

Good morning,

I had mine done here in Al Emadi Hospital, with DR Ramzi, such a lovely person, believe it or not i went for a check up and just did it.It costs QR 9000 for both eyes.

Its an operation ok,but its not that scary, the procedure takes less than 20 minutes all u have to do is keep your eye still...and as they say look at the red light.

I found it hard the first night, coz they suggest u do it and sleep i woke up in the middle of the night wanting to scratch my eyes,u just make sure they give u something to make u sleep ALL night.then u have eye drops,u dont wash yr eyes with water for a week.

BUT AS SOON AS U LEAVE THE OR.....U CAN SEE WITHOUT GLASSES....

i never felt as good.good luck with it...i know its cheaper in the States.

IT IS WORTH THE PAIN AND MONEY.
