Customer Service: Toyota: One more rant

With high expectations and seeing the popularity of Toyota world-wide I decided to a take a plunge with a new 4X4. One year on, this is what I report:

1. Toyota offers you first service free at 1000 kms. Once on the counter you are told if you really want it inspected (as per the book), it will take us 4 days. So you opt for Oil/filter change and rush off. You still pay QR 60 for a wash ( A wash is not free during service).

2. Once at the next service (5000 Kms) you are charged QR 300 for inspection (no repairs) and 60 for a wash.

3. If you ever hit anything and get a dent, be prepared for an experience of a life time. First you will be invited to have a repair done after a month after you submit the police report and papers and then your car will be kept for another 15 days saying we have too many cars (Point: Why invite after a month??).

I read on this forum that Nissan service in Doha is lousy. My point is has anyone had similar experience like me with Toyota or its only me?? Its not the cost of service that gets me irritated but the way it is delivered.

The priority of service is not on first come first serve basis but the size of the car, the nationality of the individual and connection within the service department.Overall a bunch of brooding, withdrawn and rude customer service individuals.

It seems the post got relegated last night. I thought more people will be wiling to beat toyota service to pulp verbally. So droping a line to pull it up. LOL.

The best deal i ever closed in my life was for my Whito Corleone! He is white and he is a Civic. Lo9ved him at first sight and loved the way the people pampered him when given service. No long queus, no tall talks, nothing.

Go there, drop it there and claim back an hour later. Life, simple!

Toyota in Doha is not Toyota. It's the Abdulghani company.

They sell so many cars that they have their own section at vehicle registration.

Frankly they couldn't care less if you bought from them or not because Toyota is Toyota and there'll always be buyers.

Many years ago we considered buying a Prado but after experiencing their sales staff "service" we left and never returned.

We had to wait for our turn to speak to a salesman!

So I paid more, bought German and am made to feel like a valued customer.

Honestly these people have no clue what they are doing. Don't put up with these insane policies. Take down all their names, ID number and phone number, if you have to (believe me they get scared of the thought of it) and tell them that you will only speak to the manager and won’t leave until it is resolved. I've had similar experiences, and as soon as you cause a stink they will act. Oh and make sure everyone around you are aware of these policies...this is sure to embarrass them.....if nationality is an issue, call them racist...they hate that one...good luck :)
