Coming to Doha without a degree

Hi pals,

Just want to get some advise.
I'm coming to Doha in a few months under my husband's sponsorship.
I have around 9 years corporate experience in the Phils, and my last job was as Marketing Communications Supervisor in one of the telecoms firms in the Phils. I stopped working for about a year and a half after we got married and have been a housewife since.

The thing is, I haven't actually gotten my degree yet. I studied in one of the reputable schools in Manila, but failed my ONE LAST subject, which is my thesis. But that time I was already busy working so I didn't bother to go back and finish it. So I don't have a degree yet.

1) Does my lack of degree pose as a hindrance to my getting a wife visa in any way?

2) What are my chances of still getting a job there? -- although I'm thinking I want a not-so-demanding job (not like my previous high profile job, but just something to do so I won't lose my mind in boredom hehhe). I always see these job ads giving preferential treatment to people who already have visa sponsorships and I'm thinking of getting an ordinary desk job to fill in my time.

Please please I hope you can give me some of your insights based on your experience or knowledge of Doha. thanks a lot in advance!!

1. Does my lack of degree pose as a hindrance to my getting a wife visa in any way?

Ans. No! your visa depends on the monthly salary of your husband and has nothing to do w/ your degree. If he is earning QR4000/ above, he is entitled to sponsor you as dependant w/ the approval of his employer, of coarse.

2. What are my chances of still getting a job there?

Ans. Chances are always here, based on your qualifications & work experience. (Office asst.-Clerk/Receptionist/Sales lady-consultant/Teacher Asst. & others)

Good luck!

Hmmm...I think u can get a job as a receptionist/secretary/assistant something along those lines, but probably nothing high cause that would demand for u to have a degree. Can u finish up that course while being here? Cause ur only ONE course away from a degree...I think u should finish it and u'll have much better career opportunities.
