Pregnancy
Dear all,
Praise the lord.
Last week we confirmed the pregnancy through the Urine test.
We don’t know anything about the check ups and caring as this is my first baby.We want to birth my child in a healthy manner.
We need a good doctor to take care us from the starting till the delivery. For monthly checking also we need your help.
Please give the proper details what we will do and whom we have to meet?
Thanks very much.
Here are my thoughts... My daughter was born 15 months ago in Doha, and now I'm 4 months pregnant... I'll be going to the same Dr. Dr. Badi 4324349, located on C ring across from Toys R US...
A few things you need to consider when choosing a Dr. in Doha.
1) Many doctors who do your pre-natal checkups do not do delivery. Some don't bother to tell you this.. Make sure you ask.
2) For me, I wanted to see the same Dr. every visit, and have her deliver the baby too so Dr. Badi fit those requirements
3) You need to decide if you want your husband to attend/help at the birth. Hamad does not allow men to be there. The private hospitals do. For us, it was worth the cost for him to be there. He was nervous at first, but after witnessing the birth of our daughter, he won't miss the delivery of the second one!
4) Al Ahli seems to be the popular place for people to go recently. I had to go once for a minor "emergency" early on in my pregnancy. It was ok, but I'm still sticking with my dr, who delivers at Doha Clinic.
5) Pediatricians: The pediatricians at Al Ahli are excellent- we take may daughter to Dr. Mahmoun. I will be avoiding the ones at Doha Clinic as much as possible and switching to Al Ahli for my baby's care as soon as possible after birth.
6) Information: I suggest reading up on the most recent info on pregnancy (I like www.babycenter.com) to be informed. Although the doctors here are pretty good, I have discovered that they sometimes give advice that is outdated. There is so much new research being done, that there is no reason to follow old advice.
Hi all,
Thank you very much for your wishes and concerns. We opened a file in Umm Ghawalina health centre. All the other hospitals are far for us. Thats why I started my check up with them. According to me this is OK. Any way thanks for you all once again. Praise the lord.
try to check out apollo clinic as well. i liked the ob their because she knows how to take care of her patients. am also on the way. already 8mos preggy. :)
i used to go to this clinic in al sadd but gosh, that ob gyne is just making money and i don't think she's good. she doesn't have any relationship with her patients!!! imagine, you'll have to wait for an hour (MINIMUM) or two then when it's your turn, she will just talk to you for 2 minutes!!! even my ultrasound was so bad.
take extra precaution during your first trimester because this is where you're very, very delicate. avoid slips and falls, walk very carefully.
also, it's best if you open your file in hamad on your 7th month. your gyne will give you a recommendation letter. prepare your resident id copy, marriage certificate, passport copy. it'll take a while before you can get an appointment. this is also stressful for me. everytime you have a check up, waiting period is average of 2 weeks!
i suggest if you can give birth in your country, it's still best to consider that as an option.
you can see your ob gyne whenever you're convenient, that's what am doing now. esp on your 8th month, you have to see the doctor every after two weeks.
email me if you have any concerns.
Hi, Samyauk
How are you feeling now? I read that you got a jellyfish sting last week.
Take care, I heard that jelly fish are found in plenty on some beaches.

Hi Prabumena
Congratulations!!!
Here are some tips for you;
1. Try to take at least 6 small meals throughout the day instead of eating only twice.
2. Han 19 is right, drink plenty of water.
3. I heard that you should avoid water melon during pregnancy. According to ayurveda it has some bad effect on lactation. But get it clarified from a Dr.
4. Be happy and remain in positive state of mind.
All the Best!!!

hey just some good advice for the first few weeks, drink a cup of hot water with some fresh ginger sliced into it, u can add honey, when u wake up. It reduces the morning sickness radically!! fun fun fun.

DRIVE SAFE,someone is waiting for you at home
you already sound nervous or is it excited.
theres too much to answer here.
ok first get yourself a book on pregnancy, they usually give you all the information you need to know. i had a book called "what to expect when expecting", dont remember the author.sorry.
do you have a health card? if yes, then register yourself at the health centre, they do monthly check-ups for you. go to your locality healthcentre, they will advise you when you should come to open you file and then its cool from there.
in addition to that, most women prefer to have their own private doctor, there are many you can choose from. many will give you different names here.
i personally recommend Dr. Kudsiya, she has her clinic near villagio, but she has too many patients, so waiting time is too much.
Dr. Zeenat Rizwi at Al-Ahli hospital comes with loads of recommendation, shes' extremely good, but the hospital is pricy.
Rafa Polycilinic too has a good gyn, i cant remember her name right now.
We usually keep a private doctor to call and seek help and advice as and when necessary.
Health centres follow up the pregnancy till the 32nd week and then they refer you to the women's hospital.if there is any complication prior to 32 weeks, then they refer you to hamad women's hospital right away.
what you do need to do right now is happy thoughts, it can get rocky and puky as the days progress.
drink lots of water.
have a healthy balanced diet, try to avoid oily, fried, and junk foods.
have lots of fruits and vegetables, lots of fresh juices.
avoid stress, over exertion.
sleep as much as you can.
take care
any other questions, do let us know.
happy heart

babies are such a blessing and pregnancy is such an amazing thing - enjoy every moment. Get yourselves Dr miriam stoppard's birth and pregnancy book, saw it in Virgin Megastore, u can't live without a good reference book here!! Also try Al Ahli hospital, only been to the paediatric section but was really impressed with the dedication and professionalism. Best wishes
