HELP! Am in distress!

i went to passport office to arrange for my mom's and sister's family visit visas. after submitting ALL documents (bank statement, letter from my sponsor, passport copy, marriage cert, rp copy, etc.), guess what?! they denied my application and said that i ask my husband to submit the documents.

so that's what i did... i submitted documents which i think were relevant in processing the visas.. anyways, my husband has been working here for 2 and a half years and recently moved to another company. since his resident visa has been renewed, he doesn't have the actual id yet AND THE guys from passport office are asking for a copy of that and the visa stamped on his passport (although i have even submitted the new work visa issued by immigration and even his appointment letter and bank & salary certificate!!!). aren't the documents w/c proves that he is in Qatar and is working legally sufficient?

i was even the one who went to passport office with my bulging tummy! the thing is, how can my husband get the salary thru ATM if he's an alien here???! and what are the basis of these people when they denie or issue visas? it seems to me that there are no clear cut rules.

it's just unfair because am only here to get my mom so that she can take care of me (for maximum of 2 to 3 mos. with my sister). my sister is just taking her vacation. they're not here to look for work!!!! am just so annoyed because am already 8 mos pregnant and am under a lot of stress. i have no choice but to give birth here since i think qatar airways won't allow me to travel anymore.

this is really terrible. any suggestions?

Hi

Once the completion of 56 days, she would need to leave the country. So I guess it's better to get the 3 month visa.

The for 3 month visa (it is called the visit visa. Not Tourist visa)

the procedures remains the same except that the form is different and you would need a letter from your sponsor. But as mentioned there is NO reason for them to reject the visa.

Hope this helps. let me know if you need any other help.

hi ed,

it'll be better if the visa is already for 3 months to avoid inconvenience on my part (i might be still be recovering on my mom's 14th day or so).

my concern is that if i take a 28/56 day tourist visa, would my mom be exiting qatar? although she's (and my sister as well) traveled to other countries, it will be her first to experience middle east. i want it to be very pleasant.

too bad, i come from a country in the far east and now i can see that discrimination really do exist even in this part of the world.

please enlighten me.

Dear cherryrose,

can totally understand what you are going through. What is your nationality? Ok here is what you should do.

to apply for your mum's and sister's visa you should have the following.

Your passport copy

Your residence permit copy

your birth certificate

your sisters birther certifcate and passport copy

your mums passport copy.

Your husbands passport and residence copy - Just in case

Go to the immigration near the Airport. Complete the forms (there is a bit of arabis woriding , hence you would need help from someone to fill it up) then go meet the captain (he is seated in a seperate room inside) to obtain his approval. Once he approves it (believe me there is NO reason for them to reject it) you can make the necessary payment. QAR 55.00 per visa Valid for 14 days. they will issue a receipt which you would need to give at least 24 hours for the visa to be processed. you can check online to see whether it is approved. (www.moi.gov.qa)

The visa will be valid for 14 days which can be extendable for another 14 days. total of 28 days. If you wish to extend for another 28 days (total of 56) you would need to visist the Qatar Airways Head office loacted at the Airport Road and ask for te visa section. Then you would need to pay a fee of QAR 350.00 per visa to issue a ticket to Bahrain. now this ticket that they issue is not valid for travel. It's an agreement between the immigration and Qatar Airways. and then you would need to visit the immigration for the extension.

Now this is for the 28/56 day tourist visa. Are you looking for the 3 month visa? Let me know if you need any other info.

tc

ps: sorry for the long mail! :)

Hi,

fees is 50QR per person for 15days, as u extend u have to pay the fee, finally u may end up paying 200 QR per person for 2 months thats all no other hidden charges are involved in it, this all i know as i took visa for my father and mother inlaw last year, this is not in the air port, but the office near air port known as Immigration and visa office just beside mosque of Airport.

DOnt worry at all,

as told earlier by wellwisher, go to airport and take airport visa which is actually tourist visa, initially that is valid for 14days, this can be extendablet upto 2 months, 2 months is the max that u can stay on this visa, but again this visa they will issue only if your mother is below 60 years, here govt. thinks that above 60 no need of tourism or not fit to tour,

so if your requirment is only for 2 months and if your mother is below 60 then this is the option, but for that you need to have valid qatar ID with u,

best of luck

Thank you Kamrankhalid,

I am an Indian National, does that make any difference, I really don't know. They are asking us to get a visit visa by UAE sponsors.

Kamran, We met a man in embassy who is in qatar for last 14 yrs. He saw our documents and was saying that our credentials are perfectly alright for Visa on Arrival.

The problem.....we are not getting any clear picture from any source.

Han19,

They are saying that the profession mentioned on my husband's PP is not as per their standard list. I'll PM you his co.name and his profession. I just can say here that he is having a Master's Degree in Business Administration.

shreeya, who said they have stopped visa on arrival.

why dont you ask your sister to check in UAE?

i have always travelled to uae and taken visa on arrival.

unless they have stopped it now due to the vacation season.

but one thing, shreeya, you have to be accompanied by your sponsor if travelling to uae, ie your spouse.

cherryrose, dont be distressed, go with your hubby's documents and they shouldnt have a hassle granting the visa.they arent so cruel.

my hubby always got the visa issued within half an hour.alhamdullilah.today is just your bad day. rest for a while and tackle this tomorrow.

happy heart

DRIVE SAFE,someone is waiting for you at home

i agree, these people just go by their gut feel. if they like to denie you for whatever reasons, you have no choice.

what are my options? is it true that airport visa is only valid for 14 days then extendable to another 14 days. i would like my mom to be around for at least 2 months. could i arrange for this at the airport? this is tourist visa right? are there any fees for extension? how much am i going to spend to get them?

Did you check with Emirates Airlines and the Ittehad Airways and the hotels?

In the end it all comes to the passport you are holding. sometimes they would refuse you the visa just because you are from South Asia. I was referring to the agents in the immigration Department of Qatar.

They have certain set of rules for depending on your nationality in UAE. Although UAE visit visa is not difficult to get you need someone to sponsor you. or bank to be your guaranter

Talk about racism. Not planning to start a war here. just pointing to the fact that denying visa just becasue you are asian constitutes to what? I say it is racism

I went there once and I have no desire to go there again.

Try the agents they will get you the visa in no time. They do charge some fees.

Visa Denial is strictly on the discretion of the visa office handling your application. If they deny you the visa you cannot ask them Why as sometimes they also dont know

Hi !!!

If you need your mother and sister to come why dont you try the Airport Visa, which is much easier and faster for which you need a valid Residence Permit.

If you have a residence Permit then you can bring your mother and sister.

Carry the passport copies of your mother and sister and your passport copies with the valid RP page.

Then you need to fill in a form for both your mother and sister separately and attach the respective passport copies along with your passport copy and pay the required fees.

If its for 2 or 3 months airport visa should suffice.

Try the counter at the Exit Permit section of the Doha Airport.

Which country are you from ?

If you need any further clarifications please feel free in getting in touch with me.

Good luck & God Bless.

Cherryrose, first, you do not want to be distressed at 8 months. If I'd known before you started the process I would have advised you to use your husband’s documents.

It's the law here, that you use your husband’s documents. You don't need an ID, the stamp on his passport should be sufficient enough. Listen, go again with your husband, and be patient.

I had a similar experience trying to sort out my maid’s visa, and at 7 months pregnant, I made regular visits to the Immigration office and most days cried because it was so frustrating.

I finally took my husband, and that day it all got resolved, but no one told me to bring my husband.

You still have time to sort it out before the baby comes, and Inshallah, your family will be there for you.

Don't worry; these things have a way of sorting themselves out.

There are no rules and regulations for visa denial. Just now I've came back from the great UAE visa dept and I am distressed too...I just want to visit my sister over there who will be flying to other country next month. So this is my last chance to meet her, after that it might be once in 2 years or so for us. But no you can't get visa on arrival. I wonder how an accountant and a pharmacists gets it on arrival and not the Head of Section? God only knows!!!
