Things to change in Doha, while you are here...
By tonymontana •
Hi all,
I love Qatar, infact i could stay here forever...
Lately i feel many ppl are feeling despair (and rightfully due to increasing costs, traffic violators) so lets put our minds togethers and come up with lateral solutions... to make a better quality of life for all here in Doha...

Canada is not the best country in the world. It's very hard to make a start here. I know people will disagree with me, but perhaps it's easier to come in as an immigrant then it is to start here as a citizen. You can live a much higher quality of life in Doha. Sure there is more respect and better social programs, but when you are trying to find a job that will support your family, buy a house or a car, those things aren't really worth much.

It is so good to hear from you, just the other day I was wondering where are you...hope you are having a good time
Why do you think so low of Canada :( I think it is one of the most civilized countries in the world! I dream of immigrating there someday...everything you said about Canada, having a car and house that doesn't belong to you ..etc apply to here, and not Canada! People in Canada live in a country that respect them, provide them with one of the best welfare systems in the world, grant them their freedom and respect...I think it is one of the best countries in the world, I wish I were Canadian
I know this is a bit of a cliche, but if we don't like it...we should just go home...
At least thats what I say to the people that come to my home country and whinge... :)

You guys think Doha is bad??? Please come to Canada where everyone drives a beat up toyota corolla and wears a wife beater tank top. Seriously I land at the airport and I feel depressed. Imagine working your ass off your entire life to get nothing, a house that doesn't belong to you, a car that doesn't belong to you, an education that doesn't belong to you and you can do nothing with. Doha has its issues but at least I feel like I'm doing something besides growing old and fat by being there.

I love Qatar also, I think for it to become a perfect country they should do 2 things:
-Send all Egyptians back to their country (except me)
-Change the stupid laws and allow us to change our jobs freely
Why Do Human-made Greenhouse Gases Matter When Water Vapor Is the Most Potent Greenhouse Gas?
The Earth's surface temperature would be about 34°C (61°F) colder than it is now if it were not for the natural heat trapping effect of greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, and water vapor. Indeed, water vapor is the most abundant and important of these naturally occurring greenhouse gases. In addition to its direct effect as a greenhouse gas, clouds formed from atmospheric water vapor also affect the heat balance of the Earth by reflecting sunlight (a cooling effect), and trapping infrared radiation (a heating effect).
However, just because water vapor is the most important gas in creating the natural greenhouse effect does not mean that human- made greenhouse gases are unimportant. Over the past ten thousand years, the amounts of the various greenhouse gases in the Earth's atmosphere remained relatively stable until a few centuries ago, when the concentrations of many of these gases began to increase due to industrialization, increasing demand for energy, rising population, and changing land use and human settlement patterns. Accumulations of most of the human-made greenhouse gases are expected to continue to increase, so that, over the next 50 to 100 years, without control measures, they will produce a heat-trapping effect equivalent to more than a doubling of the pre-industrial carbon dioxide level.

A change in global climate has been described as the greatest current threat to humanity. The fierce debate over how we should meet that threat is constantly stoked by researchers' efforts to understand more about how our climate works, and how exactly we are altering it.
Plants are a major group of living things including familiar organisms such as trees, flowers, herbs, bushes, grasses, vines, ferns, and mosses.
Land plants are key components of the water cycle and several other biogeochemical cycles. Some plants have coevolved with nitrogen fixing bacteria, making plants an important part of the nitrogen cycle. Plant roots play an essential role in soil development and prevention of soil erosion. The Earth's biomes are named for the type of vegetation because plants are the dominant organisms in biomes.

control, with Barwa building almost 10,000 units for low income housing...
also, many companies have come here with similar kinds of proposal.
But until then, does anyone have any creative solutions???
rent here is sucks. Most of your salary subsidized for spiralling rent.
i am not saying u dont have a positive attitude... u r right abt what u r saying...
except... i'm talking abt how cud we change things for ourselves. if u read my previous post, u might see where i am going with this...
another ex... with regards to increasing costs, i have paid for a fruit cocktail between qr5-35. If i cant save money on rent (which is out of our control)... maybe i can find a really cool joint (Cocktail Jamaica on Ferej Nasser St) that makes the best fruit juices one can expect instead of having them at city centre, or Four Seasons...
you cant have more positive than i do, been here for 6 yrs and so far i love it.
if i may say ... somethings here you can't change. The attitude of people. Talking on the mobile phone ..., driving on the road ignorant-ly ..., smoking under non-smoking sign (go to starbucks villagio on the weekend you will find plenty of them), etc tec.
It will not change till authority enforcing the law properly. Be it about rent, smoking or other things.
Qatar still have a good things to live ... free tax salary and a liter of petrol cost cheaper than water. lol.
if we keep a positive attitude, i think solutions come ....
Senti,
interestingly, i have figured out how to avoid pretty much every roundabout in doha... there are soo many side roads or alternate routes, if one keeps his eyes and mind open, u will find a solution.
i will share one of my fav...
The lulu r/a on d-ring road is a major headache for ppl coming from najma/c-ring... if you are in a big hurry, take a left on the previous r/a and drive behind fardan garden to join the d-ring road... the traffic moves much faster there...
Finally someone with a positive attitude. Yes if everyone could have the positive energy that you have I have no doubt Doha would be a great place to live. We should make ourselves heard and not accept these increasing costs, traffic violations etc.........
you can talk about any solutions / laws ... but if no one enforce it ... it will not change anything.
