Actually, Don, I've never been to Canada but really like the Canadians I've met (mostly on line) which makes me think you could have something going with that remark!

My my whose got a lot of History books. I think its safe to say that your ENGLISH skills far outshine Johnjo's, i cant argue about that.

Anyone with the slightest interest British History will agree, (if honest)that Britain, whilst amassing a huge empire, didnt really do things "by the book" or with much consideration for the Nations it divided. Infact as a nation we have alot of things to be ashamed about. My only defence, with the exception of the incidents in the 20 century, could be that, times were very different back then. The world was a different place and rightly or wrongly, there to be conquered. I dont hear anyone disrespecting the Italians because the Romans conquered most of Europe. It was for want of a better phrase, 'the way of the world'.

The difference is that today the world is supposed to be a little more civilised. Its not a question of whether or not our History as a country is right or wrong, but merely the fact we have it. Unlike yours, who are so short on history you are desperate to make it. My greatest annoyance today is why our Ex Prime Minister, was so obsessed in holding on to your coat tails amidst the chaos.

England as a nation was and still is far from perfect, but we do have History and we do have Heritage.

So far you have given us, MacDonalds, Gangster rap and Crack Cocaine.( There is a bigger list) Give your self a round of applause, theres a lot to be proud of. Nice teeth though!!

Yeah Cornellian - Russell Peters kicks a$$. For all you folks who haven't seen him perform I'd suggest you watch his DVD "Outsourced" for a stereotyping trip around the world. (The above linked clip is taken from the same DVD)

Well if it comes down to history, grammar and spelling I have you well and truly beat.

No, you are right, the US was not in the Crimea to bail you out and you got massacred at Sebastopol when the Light Brigade massively understimated the Russian force it was up against. For more info, read your Tennyson (an English poet in case you didn't know).

Iraq. Yes a hell of a mess. Iraq, the country was created by the British in 1919 after the fall of the Ottoman Empire and as usual the Brish took no account of who was living there when they drew the boundaries. The British installed a king and things did not end happily ever after. Yes, the US has made a mess but your country has been the US's main ally in Iraq or had you forgotten that?

Pearl Harbor was attacked by the Japanese in Dec 1941 and most of the US navy was destroyed. So what? By May 1940 the British had been kicked out France by the Germans and suffered a massive humiliation at Dunkerque.

"world war one and two were was you then well you came at the end as normal"

I don't really understand the sentence that you wrote above but if you consider 4 years of war and several million American dead ascoming in at the end, then your math skills are on a par with your writing skills.

As I said at the very beginning, we have screwed up our foreign policy badly but I don't think the British have much to brag about either when you look at the legacy of the empire.

Great Britain did a brilliant job in making a mess of the world for several hundred years. Some of the highlights include:

1. Dividing Africa according to Geographical lines with little or no regard to the ethnic peoples and their religion and thereby guaranteeing continued strife, wars and hardships after independence. For example the country of Nigeria was named as such by the British Governor's wife in 1904. The British didn't care that the north was muslim and the south east was Christian along tribal lines. Result was horrible wars (remember Biafra 1967-1970) and a mess throughout Africa ever since.

2. Divide and Rule policy of the British Empire. Encourage complex allegiances between different religions and tribes in India. Pullout in 1947 and then massive wars. Newly created Pakistan (in two parts) fights India. Then small Pakistan decides it wants to be known as Bangladesh = big war against Pakistan also involving India. Also Ceylon to Sri Lanka. Then Far East, Burma etc.

3. History of the slave trade. Taking slaves to America and the Caribbean to work on plantations. A history eagerly taken over by America.

The list is endless of Great Britain's contribution to history. America's history is much shorter but we have managed to take over from you in screwing up the world with our disastrous foreign policy. A lesson we learned from you guys. I hope our history is not as long or as "successful" as yours.

Have a nice day!
