we need friends!

Hello my family and I arrive in Doha in August from the UK and we are all feeling very nervous about our move. I have a 2 year old who is leaving his friends and cousins to start a new life in Doha. I was wondering if there were any groups other than nurseries where my son could meet new tots and me meet other mums to help us fit in quicker. Thanks

I'll be in Doha by the end of this week, Inshallah.

What part of Pakistan are you from?

Lets continue thru private messaging.

Hello,

Yes you are right. My parents are originally from pakistan and moved to the UK about 35 years ago.

I was born in the Uk and have lived here ever since. My husband is from pakistan and moved to the UK

4 years ago. We have just had our flights and accomodation booked and hopefully arrive on the 5th August. Where abouts in pakistan are you from? We should get in touch when we settle in. I think we can do with as many friends as possible ;)

Hi Afia

I feel just as nervous as you do, I'm moving to Doha from Canada.

I have a 2.5 year old son, my husband has just joined qatar airways, and we're really looking for a circle of friends who we can socialize with.

I'm originally from pakistan....ur name sounds as if u're from the sub-continent too.

And also pls check Qatarmum group on the group section.

You are welcome to PM me your email and I will send you the most recent issue of "Mums the Word" newsletter. One local mom sends it out and it's got some good info in it. Playdates, coffee mornings, etc. Well, I just realized the newsletter is saved on my computer in Doha and I'm back home for the summer. Can email to you in September or check out expatwoman.com on the Doha chatboard and someone may be able to help. I believe May/June was the latest issue and another one will come out in September. That site it also good for keeping up with what's going on for moms and kids in Doha. Best wishes!

You can also check the upper right hand corner of this page and click on the "Qatar Groups" and check the Mums in Qatar Group.

Or you can send a PM to Han19, Novita77 as they are QL Mums who are very active in this forum...
