I had started this thread with AryanWatch as my ID but now for some strange reason I'am not able to access my old account. I have created this new screenname.

Just to let you know - I'am already at Doha now. I reached here on 6th Sept and have settled down.I started work too...As I imagined...this place is really very good and I have not had any shocks other than the cultural ones...:)

I'am enjoying every bit of it so far...

up at a restaurant that serves meat, they usually will accomodate you. there is an EXCELLENT Indian pure veg restaurant down town..The Garden...LOVELY food and the wait staff is incredible. Ohhh and try the mint lemonade here..or anywhere here..its wonderfully refreshing.

Ok thouh...its H O T..so bring appropriate clothing..just be discreet...

Thanks once again. This was really helpful. But I'am a pure veg. Is getting veggie food a problem there? I'am quite worried. And yes. I'am coming there keeping a lot of better prospects aside just because I wanted to see everything for myself. I'am quite excited about the desert, dunes and the wonderful nights.I'am just hoping that everything is like I want them to be :))

and you can buy a membership that allows you to use the gym, pool and other facilities..Just have to pick one that is close to where you live and fits your requirements. Also..some of the housing places have tennis courts too.

I know there are many treks you can take. Went sand duning one last March and had a FUN time...you literally FLY over the dunes and then you see this beautiful beach. The drivers have this devilish look on their faces when they hit the top..The day we did it, they served us lunch on the shore..typical food..shwarma..ohh love, its delicious especially if the bread is freshly off the oven...

You can take camel rides into the desert..lovely animals but have a definite attitude..course I would too if I had a large ring in my nose and was lead around by it! lol

you'll enjoy everything here...just come with an open mind and open heart and see everything with fresh eyes...Don't let what others tell you (if its negative), sway you. Make your own decisions.

Thanks for the responses. I'am already in love with the place. Can't wait to see Doha. Which are the places where you can go trekking hiking etc.?I was doing a bit of research on the internet but couldn't find a club where you have a tennis court. Can you please help me with that also.

favorite things about Qatar...

Ok..only been here a couple of weeks, but, I love:

- the people...their smiles...almost always you can get one from them if you are open enough to smile first...

- the sun...I know, its hot, but its hot back home also...sure feels good when you are in the pool

- learning to drive in a new place (or shall I put..getting LOST in a new place) Everyone will help you out with directions..course each person tell you a different way to get back..lol

- hunting for certain items in stores..I actually look forward to the thrill of the hunt in the stores cause they move everything just about every day...and I get the biggest kick out of trying to find where they put things and what's not there that was there the week before

- the families in the mall...love seeing all the kids with their parents

- the food...and this is typed with a VERY indulgent smile...I love middle eastern food..I think I died and went to heaven..am having one heck of a time resisting desserts and not putting on weight...darn it..

Ok for those that think I said this sarcastically..I didn't..meant every single word. I find it challenging and extremely pleasant here. I know some of you find it boring but I don't...pleasure is in what you think is fun. so..make your OWN fun. I think a new place and people are fun. And..now that I think about it...I might venture a trip to the grocery and see what's moved where!!! VIVA QATER!!!!
