PHD Options in Qatar
I had registered for a PHD in my home country.... and to cut the story short, could not complete it...
What are my options of pursuing a doctorate here in Qatar but mind you I am employed and hence I will be able to partake in the classes only on a part-time basis... I know that there are no out and out doctoral courses here (sad isn't it, with all the hullabaloo surrounding the education sector here).. but do any of the universities provide correspondence course or something along the same lines?

Han, I have an MBA in Finance and Marketing, so I would preferably like to do my PHD in either of these disciplines....

i have a local guide for my subject, he is authorised to carry out thesis supervisions, but its a hassled to juggle back and forth my univeristy and here.
time is another factor.
need to be able to devote time for it, which is an issue with me.
the qatar univerisyt doesnt have a proper masters program, i had checkd about PhD.
what do you wish to do pHd in?

ouch.. thats really sad han.. well I am tempted to try out those online ones.. but then again reason sets in and I realize that if something is too good to be true then it most probably is..
I guess the only alternative is what you suggested... P.S if there is any momentum in your finding a PHD guide here, do let me know...

as far as my info goes, none provide correspondence for PhD or for Masters here.
what was advised to me was to get enrolled in a university at my hometown (somwhere i wish to do my PhD from) with a guide registered in the same university, but carry out the thesis here in doha with a local guide ie someone who is authorised to supervise a thesis study.
so if you can find a tutor who can help you this way, then something is possible.basically you will have to coordinate between your university tutor and local tutor.
