raped filipina secretary

By significance36

I have this housemate a Filipina, recruited from thte Philippines of this advertising agency. She entered with a business visa and is right now working in the mentioned company with the same visa.

It took almost a month before we became close. When she felt that i can be trusted, she finally shared to me her tragic experience from her employer (indian national).

She was raped twice. The first one occured in the office, when she was directed not to go home with the rest of the staff and the company's driver. He will be the one to drop her in our accommodation. He thretened her that she will be sent home if she will not agree to have sex right there and then and if she will complain. A single mom to two kids.. she was afraid to be sent back to the philippines so she agreed.

The second time, she was picked up in the accommodation for dinner. She told her boss that its not longer office hours. But the boss insisted that its part of her job as the secretary. She was instead brought to a house and again the boss insisted to have sex. The same threat and conditioning her mind to enjoy life.

Last week, she had this Indian office mate, she will be the model of the ads company. This young girl, 19 years old yesterday looks terrified that is why she approached her and asked why. This indian girl shared to her that she was brought to the same house where the boss brought her.. they found out that they had the same experience. This girl told her that she will complain if this filipina will do the same thing.

I personally don't know what to advise. If anybody in qatar living is knowlegeable on laws regarding the matter or whom to go to file a formal complaint please send me a message.

I will truly appreciated suggestions. The law of this country is different from those being practiced in most countries. I might give her wrong suggestions.

She wanted to go home but don't know what to do?

Please help.

I SYMPHATIZES TO MY KABABAYAN... THAT WAS REALLY & TERRIBLY DISGUSTING AND IMMORAL. THE ONLY THING I CAN SUGGEST ARE: BEFORE YOU DIRECTLY REPORT TO POLICE STATION AND WILL TAKE STATEMENTS FROM YOU, BETTER TO "VISIT CLINIC/DOCTOR FIRST". OF COURSE IT NEEDS TO HAVE FINDINGS BY THE HOSPITAL THAT THE RAPE INCIDENT REALLY HAPPENED TO YOU. EVERYBODY CAN SAY THEY'VE BEEN RAPED BUT YOU NEED TO PROVE IT WITH THE MEDICAL CERT COMING FROM THE CLINIC/HOSP/DOCTOR. THEN THAT'S THE TIME YOU MAY PROCEED TO THE POLICE STATION. THEY WILL GET YOUR STATEMENTS, ETC. AND OF COURSE, PRESENT YOUR PROOF THAT YOU'VE BEEN REALLY RAPED.

AT THIS TIME MY KABABAYAN, I THINK ITS TOO LATE TO COMPLAINT BUT SINCE THE SAME SCENARIO HAPPENED AGAIN BY ONE OF YOUR COLLEGUE, TRY TO HELP HER AND ASK HER TO VISIT ANY CLINIC NEARBY BEFORE YOU GO TO POLICE STATION. EVEN AT LEAST BY THAT YOU DEFEND YOURSELF AND GAVE HIM THE RIGHT JUDGEMENT.

Men like this deserve more than the firing squad !! Words fail me - I feel so sorry for these women who have to leave home , family and children to support their families and provide for their kids.

I dont know qatar but I l am an Indian national living in a muslim country as well. Malaysians are so respectful towards women , though ofcourse we have the odd case which crops up every now and then.

May be one should reveal the bloke's name - I'm sure qatar is a small communinty and he deserves to suffer a slow and painful punsihement !!

Report him...

But go with a lot of proof. Since he played a trick on you You should also play a trick on him.

Buy a mobile that can record in comming calls & also while talking in the office.

Buy a hidden cam & entice him to your place & let him be the aggressor, threatening you.

Take help of a private investigator if possible.

Then go to a legal advisor.

And finally to the Police.

Dont bother about the consequences, because he could ask you to sleep with his friends, etc and your position will only deteriorate. He is a habitual rapist & using his position to do so.

There was a similar case in India where the Boss was captured red handed using force on hidden cam placed with the help of Private investigator. He finally had to resign from the job.

The worst that could happen to you is deporation & Job-loss.

phil. embassy will do nothing about this case!!!!!for so many raped cases that happen here in qatar, as we know they do nothing!!they must go first to HUMAN RIGHTS at SALWA ROAD for their info, at get some legal advice! may JUSTICE PREVAIL for this two women!

I dont understand so much about legal procedure specially here in Qatar, but i think if they can have any evident that they have been forced to have sex without their own willingness, they can go to police. Without those evident, considering that they are an expat here, i think we can not hope too much..

By amnesia• 19 Aug 2007 06:15

I want to know what happened to this Indian guy.

If you feel you need evidence, you could always try to 'entice' him, have your mobile recording and record the threat.

I know I'm late with this but this is haram!

If officials knew about this, this guy would be in serious trouble.

Don't forget, Qatar uses a mix of national laws and the Islamic legal system.

It is AGAINST the law to rape! Anybody who is raped should EVER feel guilty. Don't put blame onto anyone except for this evil man.

The punishment in strict Islamic law is stoning. Of course this doesn't happen in Qatar BUT that should give you some idea of how severe this issue is.

army001 you get my 10 stars for saying something logical and true.

Try to approach Philippine Embassy first and if they don't assist you go to the Residence Ombudsman and report whoever is the Staff does not give you any assistance and they will for sure take you seriously. It's our Government obligation to serve you whatever your complain is. Rape case is a serious offense do not hesitate to report this matters!

After the Embassy take actions then they will advice her to go back and if her Employer rape her again go to the nearest hospital for examination as an evidence that she's been raped and they will find a sample of his sperm in order to get this guy.

Ladies -

Well - yes the legal system here is not the best- I agree! But I know of a few instances where even senior officals from govt who were LOCALS were in serious trouble for harrasing women - not even close to rape. I agree with the rest of the guys - do make it a point to report this matter and get the guy behind bars! Offences against women are taken serious note over here and hence dont give up hope.

took the story seriously? of course! rape is a heinous crime and it enrages me right now! if the victims would shut their mouth, the offender would take it as consent! so pick your choice but if you would fight it's bcause it is your own fight and know what you are fighting for! not just following what others are telling you to do.

I am worried about the girls. As simple as that.

The police will investigate and check the evidences (the girls do not have but their words)

Even if the police reported the man as rapist, they will go to court. Each side will have a lawyer and when the case is weak (without evidences), then the lawyer of the rapist will find a hole to penetrate and turn the table on the girls. Again I think they should have some recording to support their case before reporting o the police.

Also should keep in mind that te girls cannot afford a good lawyer (unless they are lucky) where as the rapist can afford.

Let us put it this way. If I were him and am that horny, I won't play with the girls working for me and rape them or force them to have sex. Now we know about two. There might be 4 or 5 or 10.... God knows. So unless that man is confident that he can escape the crime, he would not dare do it. It would be be cost effective (if there is risk involved) to entertain himself with a hooker and pay few 100s.

Am writing my thesis and trying to figure out ur secret place:)

Re your above post, yes! possible...which is why i said,(both girls) should have something to prove and back up their claims. We cannot blame the police coz, like i stated earlier some people complaint and claimed as being rape when in fact it was not! The police has to make sure to determined the real victims. And also dont forget some cases of blackmail:((

But, like i said if we are not guilty of something, why should we afraid of complaining to police? TELL THE TRUTH in your complain and let the police do their job to investigate the matter?

what ya think?

-->You're the man!

Back to the topic. As an expat woman in Qatar, we should not be afraid to report and complain any incident like this especially rape/sexual harassment. So long that you can back up your claims and pretty sure that it was a rape. Because some people go to police and complain of being rape wherein the fact, it was not!:)

The authority here will not tolerate such crime, no one is above the law in rape case. I am more worried if it happened to us in my country(God forbid), espcly if the culprit is from rich family.

Red_pope

Come on dude it is real hard to believe this comment.

Fugue your comment is proportional insipid and pathetic about the embassy.

The criminals are Indus, they are no different or special from the Philippine ladies. They are criminals and both parties work together in the same company.

True to this is:

Who ever they work for, THIS will be an embarrassment to the owner, IF THIS PROBLEM GOES PUBLIC. Probably she will get paid off and sent home.

The morale of the story is WHERE IS JUSTICE GOING TO STAND AT?, will the criminals will be punish or just spank and sent home?

Any how, the writer of this thread is too dramatic, fictitious and I'm a little skeptical for the validity of the story.

In this comment I take no sides on the matter and God help those victims.

Is there any kind of "FAITH IN THE QATARI LEGAL SYSTEM"?

There has to be some kind of Justice in this country, when It comes to force and cohered rapes against woman.

The writing of other writers expressing their legal opinion that the legal system in Qatar has no backbone, is full of prejudice and lowness is quite questionable.

My knowledge:

Rape is against Islam laws and principles, that I know for fact.

If those ladies take their case to a lawyer. establish a POLICE REPORT and stop dwelling on "Deportation and Harassment from their coworkers", then let it be.

They have being harassed and abuse already.

Is time for them and justice to take action.

Pointing out races:

I do have my own personal discriminatory set of rules about other races. Everybody knows is cultural and personal and human nature, but I do judge all time their actions, words and hearts first.

Unfortunately Indus are the culprits, let not judge everyone for their nationality, race or color, but for their criminal intent only.

My memory recalling some identical story:

But this report seems to be a new version of old news, I have read it in a newspaper a couple of moths ago. Can't remember which newspaper? but this seems to be reformatted version in my Opinion

I'm, Not saying It can or can't happen. The writing style gives too many alibis of deception and lies to the public reader. The Reader has to read it with malice, there is more than just the story line.

My prayers go to victims .

In this comment, I take no sides on the matter and God help those victims, until the truth is unveiled in public and not some public forum in the internet.

all the above advised and suggested you to go to police, they will help (they helped our friend, more or less same case). Honestly, why be concern of sending home? this should have been complained and stopped the first time, letting him know that you are taking his threat seriously means he can do it anytime he wants using the same threat.

by golly, never mind if this azz will sent her home, its like accepting your life to be miserable in his hands if she doesn't do anything ...have this bsatrad sent to jail and go rotten there...go to the police ASAP.

reporting to the police and having their testimonies, narrating all the incident to them can be emotionally draining...just be there for your friend, she needs moral support during this time..and when she feels drained (fed up) by all the questionings (by the police, which are a tedious procedure), tell her not to give up...be strong, both of you and the other lady...be strong...
