This is the best way to make business these days :) Crazy ideas work just fine, people won't believe that there could be someone crazy like that and would be having no doubts about it.

Massage is already taken care of. Will introduce a self-massage service. Just shoot few jokes to have the "visitors" ROFL and I have a special place for that covered with medicated aggregates :)))

That become more than a restaurant, it is a resort. All what we need now is to legalize your property, adding a massage service and your place would be the paradise to all QLers here :)

I will manage the restaurant there, different kind of dishes, drinks and desserts no worries at all. We can fake that Chef certificate to calm down the people and let them believe in us ... that their food is cooked by a certified professional chef :)

Other facilities would be coming soon, have to wait for the crew coming from outside to guide us what to do regarding that matter :)

In fact I was thinking the same.

My place is open to all QL members. Entry is against a nominal fee including tax and service. Eat ALL You Can.

None will get bored:

For those who need sauna, will arrange tables for them in the back and front yard.

For those who want to exercise, the options are unlimited: Cleaning the cars, gardening (a lot to be done), some walls need painting, some furniture need shiftig up and down, dish washing, let aside cooking

For those who want to nap: Sleeping bags are there

And finally, free shower is available using the garden hose. Unfortunatly, its thermostat is not working :D

Actually, what happened was that when we Purserettes were learning how to say the emergency regulations in French, the Belgian lady Chief Purserette noticed (to her horror!) that our English accent made the French word for 'neck' sound like the rude word so, unfortunately, we never got to say it on board.

Such a shame ;o)

Many years ago I worked on the cross-channel hovercraft which 'flew' from Dover to Calais and also to Boulogne. I was a 'Purserette' (bit like an air hostess but not so fancy lol) and so worked on board the craft rather than on shore doing the ticketing (my French wasn't good enough for that).

I can't begin to tell you how many howlingly funny mistakes I made with my French. Suffice to say the worst time was when I announced (in French) that passengers should strap the life jackets around their lady's private parts, instead of their neck! sheesh. Coo and Coo are pronounced differently, allegedly!

We just imagined that if we capsized we'd know who the French were, cos they would be floating upside down.

"vous vous les de la naige" (wonder if spelled properly)

Well, to make a long story short: imagine the bar man having to ask you "do you want ice" and instead he says "do you want snow" !!!!!!!

in France and only had to say the one word "oui", however the paperwork was extensive and some things came out odd in translation - I still wonder sometimes whether we are really married or not!

I DID suggest Le Notre to him indoors, but he wasn't 'in' to doing French, however I imagine the brunch there isn't necessarily all frogs legs and snails in garlic butter lol (and don't ask me how French is French for Pete's sake!) :D

I used to knock up a mean tabbouleh (yummy) but, because it's so easy to buy it here, it seems daft to spend all that time chopping parsley when I could be eating it as soon as I get home from the shop.

Juantie. I would recommend Le Notre for a change and agree with Novi about value for money but cannot recall the figures.

As you say, it sounds like a good place to go for a treat once in a while and I SHALL drag my hub over there next Friday. Is it from midday onwards, or earlier, do you know?

I know it's now too late .. but maybe for next week! Just came back and I'm full of champagne, and prawns, and sushi and roast beef ... and .. and ... HUGE amounts of food available of all sorts: also eggs, which they will cook any which way you like, pancakes, fruit, a cute chocolate fondue fountain, lamb curry, cold nibbly things, tabouleh, hummous, etc. Bread. and as much as you can eat along with as much champagne as you can drink. With a guy crooning along and a great view over the arabian gulf. 165 riyals each but they add a 'tax' and water is expensive!! But I liked it - wouldn't do it every week, but it was a good treat for my first week in Qatar. Enjoy! Worked out about 180 each in total.

yes Le Notre is the same side where we had a coffee the other day with QL users. If you pass coffee beanery on your left you just go further down, then you will pass Pizza Hut ... and Al Tazaj chicken ... then you see a big car park and Ponderosa ... you can't miss Le Notre.

And it is not Al Massa gym side of the junction :D

taken note of the places. le notre is on Salwa Road, right? Al-Emadi Center. Is that where we had coffee the other evening Novi? Or on the al Massa gym side of the junction there.

agree with Eco Savvy ... we been to Le Notre few times for buffet breakfast. Value for money ... 60 QR including pot of tea ... and good food too :D

If you come down from Al Saad traffic light towards ramada junction, you pass Toys R Us on the right, pass Applebees, Mc.D, Hardees. Jst after Hardees you will see a road ... turn right on that road ... You will see Thai Snack (Amjad) on the left hand side approximately 400 metres from the turn off.

Go further down ... pass 1 traffic light ... less than 1 kms you will see Far East Restaurant on your left hand side. You will see the 'big prawn' outside the restaurant ... so you can't missed it.

And save room for pastries btw brunch was invented at the original Madame Begue's restaurant

to save me getting a map out, and nosing about on the floor with it for ages, where (roughly) is al Mirqab Street. No pressure! Just if you know off the top of your head :D

Me think thai resto in Villagio is not really that brilliant. Serve by mainly Indonesian and filipina waitress, and southafrican plus lebanese manager. The service is very good though ... but i am not too impressed with the taste of the food.

If you want to try the original thai food ... go to Thai Snack or Far East restaurant in Al Mirqab street. Both ran by thai people... Thai Snack so original that most of their waiter can't speak english only speak thai. :-)

Nope, I'm NOT missing good ol' British stodge. Actually, when I first posted in this thread that food was furthest from my mind - I'm not sure now how I got on to it! I think I was just asking what type of food was served at the buffets in the Hotels on Friday mornings lol

We will probably end up, if anywhere, in the Lebanese/Arabic place in Villagio , cos we both like that style of food. Either that or spicy Indian or Thai :D

Sandwich Cellar is where you should go for english boring bland food. It is ran by an english couple and most brits said the good is good. The number 435 7559.

Only been to The Ritz once to eat (special occasion in that we weren't paying lol) and my husband was told the local lobster wasn't available!

Marriot, we were at the Marriot. Ramada - never been to brunch, although seemingly every other bar and restaurant there...

Jauntie - the Ritz defies belief, in both spread and prices (fresh scallops, a lobster station?). Sharq not far behind. Ramada pretty good and more reasonable. All cuisines and v friendly staff. I didn't really look at the prices, but seem to recall Ritz was QR220 and Ramada half that. Too many wines at the Sharq meant I have no idea, but recall being horrified at the total (QR1100 for two). But by crikey it was fun!! Ritz is a 'big day out' for many, so booking required. We walked just walked in to the others. Enjoy and report back!!

There's a Lebanese restaurant (or Arabic) in Villagio, but I can't remember if it opens at midday/1.00 ish. I know the shops aren't open until 3.00, but the supermarket opens at midday doesn't it?

I'm fed up with this - all this talk about food is putting me off eating for life!

The word 'Sabbath' simply means a day of rest and worship:

Sunday for most Christians; Saturday for the Jews (and a few Christians, apparently! I didn't know that); Friday for Muslims.

And I did, of course, realise I wouldn't get my beloved 'full English' breakfast here :P But food is food, and better if I don't have to cook it myself lol

We are members of The Cabana Club there - do you mean they serve the brunch by the pool???? lol Well, no, perhaps not ... but which restaurant do they do the Brunch in, and what type of food i.e. shellfish? eggs? salads? curry? steak? I dunno ...

You see for me a REAL Sabbath brunch with be a huge fry up of bacon, eggs, mushrooms, black pud, tomatoes etc., so I wondered what is considered 'brunch food' in hotels here, please.
