A Tinge from the Past (love) ...makes you wonder

First TITLE: Bitter?...you know it better

NOTE: I was thinking of a better title but couldn't think of one at the time I wrote this...so I'll better expound more b'coz some got lost here...hehehe. sorry about that :-)

I'm talking about "past" relationship...along the time of your teens, let's say high school days???? Here goes...

**************************

I don't know if it's true for anyone else...but haven't you realized that may be somewhere in your past, something or someone's deed has left a mark in you that affected the way you feel, think and react to everything that's happening to your life these days?

A boy/girlfriend scarred your young heart then...which made you bitter, wary, cautious or even fail in every relationship/special friendship that you have had...made you fear or shy away from commitment.

Do you even wonder why you still vividly remember it as if it only happened yesterday?

Do you still feel the "same emotions" whenever you happen to recall of it?

Do you find it weird...because even if it happened a very long, long, long time ago, still we can't forget? And no matter how much we try to convince others (and ourselves) that THAT is just a part of the past and you're way over it...you know it's still there inside of you...

Any special (before) person that somehow still sneak in your thoughts? Though you haven't heard from this person but you find yourself wondering where is he/she? how is he/she doing these days?...

Kind of just wondering thoughts of your past...Just asking....

Note: I do hope this is clearer to everyone now...

What you are is what you have been, and what you will be is what you do now. - Buddha

Men dwell more on things too. When women get hurt, they cry a bit, buck up, say obviously he wasn't the one for me and move on, men mope and think and think and dwell, and I girl that wasn't so special before suddenly becomes the be all and end all of their life, simply because she rejected them. They have a much harder time letting go and moving on, because to them being dumped is a blow to their ego.

Howl like a dog, beat your chest or gorge on choclates or starve urself until the pain goes away. Than invite the jerk in ur territory and kick his a*s(Don't let him sweet talk you). This would leave u with sweet memories.

Women are more expressive of their emotions wherein others see it as a weakness but to most..it's our strength or we drew our strength from these emotions...

MEN on the other hand would rather put on a mask, as you said it...and pretend it doesn't affect them one bit...

Thank you, shimmer for a very informative interpretations... :-)

Women talk about their past issues and relationships easier than men do. Its a generalization but in most part true. We get it off our chests and find it easier to move on. Men may deny this but they make it look like all is ok yet they have merely internalized their stuff, put the mask on, and move on they do.. Somewhere down the line they find that the accumulation of 'stuff' manifests in the degeneration of their health, eg. Heart attacks, high blood pressure, etc. As i said this is a generalization as you find that some men are able to, and do, work thru their stuff.. Many articles on these issues.. interesting topic

For me, it's kind of thinking "what could have been, what might have been"...sort of feeling.

Yes, you are right...no one can move on to the future without leaving the past. Blaming the past for your present failure won't be sensible...

Thanks, Maria.M for a nice comment....cheers

and keep blaming your 'first' for your future failed relationships. Yank out of your past.

and out of the blue...she mentioned someone's name that made me feel "butterflies in the stomach" once again....don't know why but still the name has an effect on me.

Haven't seen or spoke to this person since 1986...but snippets of news comes my way...

So..this is what my topic is all about...

sometimes started with jealousy! stop comparing yourself to others and don't be nasty framing up other people to get them into trouble!

this is not fun, you are just digging yourself to a deeper situation. don't wait until people start talking about what you did to other people!

the truth will come out and it would be a big embarrassment for you! why waste more time let the sleeping dog lie!

is never productive. The only person it hurts is the one feeling the bitterness. The other person is usually unaffected by it, or doesn't care.

Yes, we probably all have those feelings and they can overwhelm you at times, but what is necessary is to learn how to let go with your heart and your mind, allow yourself to open up and let the healing begin. Once you do that, you are "free" of the one who hurt you. You are the only one that can allow the hurt to continue on a personal level. As long as you harbor that hurt inside you, you give that person the power to still hurt you. Most of the time, they aren't worth the effort and pain. So, do yourself a favor and let it go...live a more peaceful and sane life.

Don't worry! I don't miss that person, after all she never was my friend! she may think she's sociable enough, she maybe a popular person and as she thinks she has lots of friends, Shame! about some of her friends who wasted their time with her as they said she's definitely fake! a bitter person like her will never be contented because she envies what other people have.

I am being serious here ;-) this thread has a good timing... my friend just sent me a friendster message and made an apology for upsetting me and to be honest I missed her, 2 months is long enough for not talking to each other.

But your timing is brilliant too!!! LOL

Cheers!

Like someone I know will do everything to ruin other people's reputations for the sake of attention! Lacking of attention and pretentious they appear happy go lucky but deep inside they are full of jealousy! Thanks "God" other people realized who are bitter and not worth wasting time on friendship!

from the past will haunt you specially if you don't admit that you made a mistake too and you became coward to make an apology. We should really not dwell on the past but it's good to look back when you are making a reflection, those hurt you had experienced, those troubles you'd made and to realized that things that has been said and done and yet still there's a chance to make it better.

Cheers!

Very simple

When we are happy, relaxed and feeling peaceful, we just remember the nice and fun moments of the past.

Tha dark and sad past we usually remember when we are feeling sad or bad or having depression or emptiness.

Strong people succeed by overcoming the sad and dark side and look ahead for a bright future.

I remember the movie about Aristotalis Onasis. If am not mistaken, he was living in a small Greek village near the Turkish border. Was about 15 yrs old. That village was invaded by Turkish soldiers and the citizens were sort of hostages. He wanted to flee the village and the tax he has to pay was to "please" the Turkish officer then he was allowed to travel and hence started his long journey.

Being strong and having a clear target, he did not bother about the dark past and he forgot completely about that incident.
