Sorry for the cut and paste from the Gulf Times but its easier sometimes......

A QATARI woman, who is the breadwinner of a family of seven, has been ordered by the court to vacate her rented house or face eviction within a week after she failed to pay her monthly rent which was suddenly hiked by the landlord from QR6,000 to QR15,000, a report published yesterday in a local Arabic daily said.

It doesnt signify much hope for the rest of us come rental contract renewal time does it. What happened to the 10% a year law. Theres simply those who can........and then the rest of us.

Surely, from a Qatari point of view, the huge rent rises must be good thing, as money which would otherwise be sent out of the country is recycled back into deserving local pockets and not squandered on useless expat frivolities.

It's good to see that the authorities are promoting a good, old fashioned, market driven, capitalist economy.

you have to admit the term 'they' was vague.

After all of the generalizations that goes on in these forums you'd understand that it's easy to assume someone is just generalizing in their thread.

I for one simply do not understand how 120% rise in rent was accepted by the court.

From that point of view, it's completely unacceptable, however I need to know the full facts before determining what is going on.

...... the authorities........not Qatari's in general. How paranoid are you? If you had bothered to read the article he wont be prosecuted, he's already won. That was the courts ruling.

So sorry for your *sigh*, but perhaps abit hasty there werent you.

Simply highlighting facts!

What do you mean by 'they'.

I didn't realize that we were like the 'borg' and have one shared mind.

*sighs*

Obviously the article posted that to get something to be DONE about it. The law IS 10% if that guy didn't follow the law, he'll be prosecuted, simple as that!
