I am interested in moving to Qatar. Can anyone advise me if the following is a good salary and whether one can have a good lifestyle.
Salary = QR 24,442 per month
VILLA (With Carpets, Curtains & with Main Kitchen Appliances)
37 working days leave
FURNISHING ALLOWANCE QR 55 000
Medical and dental is also paid

Yeah, but you can go buy area rugs for nothing here. I like the coolness of the tile floor on my bare feet, personally.

It doesn't look like a bad package to me. You have to figure in your international experience and the fact that you get to change locale to a city which is literally being constructed as we speak. Lots of younger people to meet, and travel opportunity.

It's not all about the money in life, you know.

re: the carpets bit - carpets are much better, even in the desert - ever heard of a hoover? Much faster and quicker than mopping floors. But main reason is that if you have kids and lots of bickering, carpet makes that much easier to bear on the ear as opposed to the echoing of those awful marble floors. My vote is for carpet.

Thats a fabulous salary...and thats a good start to this place...if they r payin ur accomodation and medical and dental...so accept that if the comp is good and if thats what u want in terms of position and career abridgement...

trust me, in the desert you don't really want carpets in your villa.

its good to do some research about Qatar before you move here, on the top there is a search option, lost of ppl ask the same questions on QL regarding relocating...maybe you get some wise answers there.

Villas range between QAR 10,000 - 15,000 depending on the nbr of bedrooms. Rest of the monthly breakdown costs are approximately:

Car Loan - QAR 1500 - 2000 (depending on the car)

Water & Elec - QAR 500 - 700 (learn to save)

Utilities - QAR 1500 - 2000 (depending on your purchases)

Cable & Internet - QAR 200 (512kbps) - QAR 300 (1mbps)

Dining and cleaning services depends upon you.
