I finally arrived in Doha now what?

Ms-Three
By Ms-Three

Hello Everyone

I am new to this site. This is my 3rd week here in Doha. I love Qatar so far. Our accommodation is perfect. Our car is luxurious. I do not have money problem but I do have sadness in me today. My husband is always busy. We do have great time during his day off but still I feel stocked with my life.

Since our second day here I have been applying for jobs but after 3 weeks I have not received any reply.

I have Asian outlook but I spent most of my life in the Western world. I studied and work overseas. Where I came from they call me banana. Yellow from the outside and white inside. Meaning my values are mostly western.

I am married to a white man and somehow I feel like I am suffering for it. I am being mistaken as MAIL ORDER BRIDE asian girls hates here. I do hear nasty remarks everytime I am with my husband. If looks can kill I died as soon as I arrived here. I guess I have to get used to it.

Guys love me though ;-)

Is there anyone out there going through the same thing?

Hello Chubby

It is nice for me to know that I am not alone regarding my job hunting situation.

My hubby keep on reminding me I have to be patient and just keep on applying.

By chubby• 31 Oct 2007 02:25
chubby

sounds like you have been around a lot .. thats nice in a way :) guess u shud be comfortable settling in out here for a while .. as long as u can keep yourself occupied ..

about applying for jobs and not hearing from anyone .. well i very well know how u feel .. ive been applying all around for more than 3 months now .. got only a handful of calls .. the standard waiting period would be a minimum of 1-2 months .. if you are lucky you shud get things happening for you by sometime during the first month .. inshaAllah it will for you :)

one suffers for somethin only because they feel it entirely by themselves .. do not let things ppl say affect you .. they're not worth it :) .. you know who you are and how things are in your life .. so live like that .. About the looks here well thats pretty usual .. you will get used to it by and by .. am sure most expats have felt this at some point of time .. you neednt worry .. take it easy ..

have a wonderful time during your stay here in Qatar .. wishing you all the very best .. cheers ..

life goes on ..

1. Ladies Tuesday Group. The next meeting would be on the 6th of Nov. It would table top sale. You can just turn up at 9.30am, pay QR 20 for the refreshment, and had a look around whatever they are selling.

2. International Potluck Meeting ... meet once a month. Most of the time in Al Jazi compound. The group ran by malaysian lady call Hasnah.

3. Expatwoman.com

This site have a coffee morning here and there ... usually once a month and ran by a lady call Nadene.

I am an asian and married to a british. There are loads of mix marriages in Doha.

Drop me a PM if you interested to come on the 6th of Nov, i can meet up with you in Ramada :D

How about that?

Hello Scarlett and Mariam

Sounds good. I will just do your suggestions. Yes I am bymyself a lot. It was funny the other day there is a lady I met at the coffe shop. She asked me if I am using "QL" I did not know what it was and now I am hooked.

Hello Again Everyone

I just got back from dinner. Rydges was great and good service from the manager at the restaurant. Can't sleep now got tooooo much to drink.

T_Coffe_or-Me

So sorry, pls forgive me for not writing your sign on. To be honest I have not seen anybody's profile yet I am just happy receiving replies. I didn't even know you are Indian. It does not matter to me. I have lots of friends with different nationalities. I was in 7 countries in two years and keep on living in a suite case. I am so glad we can settle here in Qatar.

So friends then?

Usually, a smile does the trick, with women that is. I don't give a damn about looks as long as people maintain good hygiene. Anyways, good looking women have the lowest confidence level, IMHO. MS-three you are welcome at QL.

By Scarlett• 30 Oct 2007 18:25

she's constantly getting hateful looks and comments from other women...that's certainly not fun! Women are quite different than men..we have a need to form friendships with other women...tough to do when everyone looks like they want to cut your throat...Otherwise..all she has is her husband and he works a lot...so she's by herself..

By nib• 30 Oct 2007 18:17

ms three. why u care about people so much? i can imagine people who made those comments. and they dont seem like u shud care them in my mind:)

that you were a mail order bride..say this...

Ohh noooooo...it was the other way around..I ordered HIM...and he is WELL worth every penny!!!

That should shut them up..or shock them enough to walk away before they catch their minds...

Also...get used to the men staring at you..that happens to everyone...

Welcome to Doha!!

No I am not from Afganistan. The system picked it up somehow but I have no t change it yet. I have been travelling around for so many years that I do not have anymore home. Hopefully Doha will be my 2nd home. Home away from home.

Hello Qatarisun

that is a good advice. I will keep it in mind. I do not talk to him about it but he does sees my reaction sometimes and kept asking me what was wrong.

If those people made those comments just by looking at you, then you already know what kind of person they/he/she are.

Be proud of who you are and what you are and don't let petty nasty people you don't even know get you down.

Welcome to QL, it's a lot of fun and a great place to meet nice people :D

I dont think her hubby is so naive he might be knowing about it... the best thing is not to be bothered about all those remarks n glances n go on with your life

u do or dont do people will still talk ... so why ruin your life trying to please all just concentrate in pleasing your hubby

Others opinion about you shouldnt be your reality! Let them think what they like to think. Put it this way, they look because you have someone or something that they dont have. Just feel beautiful...think beautiful and look beautiful. To hell with them!!!
