Who has Vonage? I need help!!

Just got a Linksys 300 and hooked it up..one day i was only able to accept calls, the next i wasn't able to do anything!! does it have to do with how fast my internet is? I have ADSL at 600 mbps, should i get a faster connection?

I'm really at my wits end..i can't keep paying these bills to talk to my family in the states, please help!!

london the maximum speed they give here is 2mbps i think for home users.

so if you are getting 100mbps the consider yourself to be lucky

Make sure you followed the instructions.

If I remeber from when i set mine up.

From your ADSL modem, i.e. not the one supplied by QTEL which used to be a USB based one, go to the Vonage router first, then the PC, this makes sure the Vonage unit get's it's bandwidth first.

Go into your Vonage account online and uncheck the bandwidth saver to give max you can to your Vonage box.

Make sure you are using a decent phone cable between the Vonage box and your phone.

If there are 2 sockets on the back of your Vonage box make sure you are plugged into the right one.

Even the slowest ADSL service from QTEL is more than sufficient for Vonage.

If in doubt perform a reset of the Vonage box, instructions are on the website.

Mine works a treat and at around 60 QR per month for unlimited UK and Ireland calls that's great for me. My family only have to dial a local number which for them is free and they can call me anytime, they even use the free lcaol minutes on their mobiles to call.

i dont' really want to cancel...since my family is paying for vonage ;)

we have a linksys RTP 300 and im sure it's hooked up right...my husband tried to call from our qatar phone and it worked once...the didn't work the next two times...then worked again. Maybe we don't have the configuration right? it's so wierd b/c my family tried it out in the staes and it worked perfectly and now it's not working here, it's so frustrating!! everything is qatar has to be hard i wish just once i could depend on something to work the first time!!

worst comes to worst...what are the other VoIP operators can i use?

yea..the speed of ur internet connection is 512kbps i.e the speed u interact with internet

.....the speed of ur network connection is 600mbps i.e the speed u interact with other networked computers .

qtel got three speeds

512kbps - 200 riyals

1mbps - 300 riyals

2mbps - 400 riyals

Now tell me whther its possible for u to cancel vonage and use another voip operator.

tell me what device ur on with.

I am pretty ok with linksys PAP2

There r voip operators which offer free calls to any landline in US and Uk and charge only for mobiles.

I believe Vonage port is blocked by QTEL. Try other VOIP service.Your speed is fine.

to check internet speed

http://www.speedtest.net/

Click on the yellow triangle on the map that's Doha

I would rather have one rose and a kind word from a friend while I'm here

Than a whole truck load when I'm gone

NOOOO!!!

i don't want to cancel!! i desperately need it to work..just need some advice on how i can get it to work..i know that it was blocked about two years ago (Dec. '06) and am wondering if it has been unblocked or if you need to do something specific to get around Qtel

ok i don't know about the speed...when i put my mouse over the icon in the lower right-hand corner of my screen it says 600 mbps...we pay 200 QR a month for ADSL and i assume that's the speed? if not, then what is?
