Any interesting stories about laws or law in Qatar?

Since no one yet responded to my serious survey (for my academic research) about the rule of law in Qatar that is elsewhere on the forum, I thought I'd ask for less serious anecdotes, jokes and stories about law, lawyers and law enforcement in Doha here.

What do you think of laws, lawyers and law enforcement in Qatar? Anyone have any choice experiences here? I'm not trying to get any of you in trouble, but know that sometimes people like to praise or vent about law sometimes.

If you have thoughts more generally about the rule of law in Qatar, feel free to search for my post from a few weeks ago with a short survey that you can send me.

Best greetings from the Eastern USA, where we already have our first snow on the ground. I definitely miss Doha!

I'm not trying to learn information about specific laws (or branches of law) or looking for legal representation (thank goodness).

Rather, I'm interested both for personal and research purposes in what people who live in Qatar (especially Qataris) think about law and how it does and/or doesn't work well. I'm a law and social science university professor in the middle of a study on people's ideas about the rule of law in theory and practice in several Arab societies, including good old Qatar, where I used to live.

Thanks for your helpful response.

Hey, knoxcollege, any further thoughts on what you mean in terms of "by the people, for the people, to the people?"

Cheers.

Ministry of foreign affairs does not make laws. (or maybe it only makes laws for foreigners)

ministry of interior makes laws.

The laws of Qatar are by the people of Qatar i.e. (Qataris) for the people of Qatar, to the people of Qatar.

If you came to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and saw how active things are you'd see that it's not as easy as you think when it comes to the law.

You should defind which branch of law you need to know. As you know there are commercial law, criminal law, labor law, and some others. I have good experience in the labor law and that what I can help you in.
