Resignation

I wish to inform everyone that I will no longer be taking responsibility as the manager and co-ordinator of the Qatar Living Social group.

If anyone wishes to take over this position, then please contact Qatari and inform him that you wish to do so so he can change the manager to yourself.

I have noticed dwindling attendance at the functions, and the last 3 functions have been cancelled due to poor response, which to me means that everyone must have their own group and no longer need a main group for introduction. It takes a lot of personal time, effort and sometimes expense to organise these function and have no one interested once they are arranged. Therefore I have no longer have the inclination to waste my valuable time organising events that no one bothers to respond too, or when they do, have their own personal tantrums over what has been organised, or who is invited..... (trust me, you have no idea about the mails I get)

Thank you to those who have made those get togethers worthwhile, and thanks to the wonderful friends I have made during the last 6 months, I hope you continue to stay in touch.

Take care and thank you.

Who will now authorise membership to the Social Group?

And NO! I'm not volunteering :P

Your decision should be respected but if it for some or few members who crib and send crap mails... that should not change the way you work.

Anyway.. c ya in some function someday..

I have far to much on my plate to have to deal with this too..... and like i say.... after the planning and organisation that goes into these events, to have people send you emails about crap, I am just no longer prepared to deal with the pettiness...

The group is still functioning as I can see, so feel free to organise your own events from now on..... will join if I get the chance...

I have not attended any of the functions yet.

The way members are appreciating your work for the group speaks for itself. I would like to repeat what Owen said. Do consider your decision again.

You are really brave girl to handle it for such long time!!

I personally never attended any of the meetings, coz I "tend to gravitate to smaller groups", exactly as PM said. But i believe whatever you had done was great!

I haven't been receiving these either and I relied on them to keep me up to date on what was going on!

I e-mailed [email protected] a couple of times in the last 2 days because I'm not receiving any alerts from any of the Groups I subscribe to.

So far I only knew about the last couple of events because I had clicked on a 'recent comment' and that was only cos I happened to be on line at the same time as the comment was made!

Is everyone having this same problem?

QL won't be the same without the group :-(

I understand how you feel and I used to be a very active member of QL Social Group and contributor to the forum on top of the other group I used to manage and it's kinda exciting but tiring as well.

Just don't give up just yet...please?

hate to see you resign! You are ever the most efficient organizer of meetings! I haven't had the pleasure of being in town for most of the activities, but the ones you've planned for the Pets group were GREAT!! You will be sorely missed as manager.

Perhaps low attendance is due to lack of communication. I know that I haven't received any notices at all in email from the social group for most of the summer. Not your fault, I'm assuming it has something to do with the program on my computer. Plus, a lot of us have been out of town or the country since summer. I will admit to one thing also..I never knew the social group existed outside of the Socializing forum..could be the main reason I never was up on things...certainly wasn't your fault!

You know..I just NOW saw that copper was leaving...and he left two weeks ago!! Now I feel bad that I missed him as I would have loved to say goodbye....

Anyway...you've done an absolutely wonderful job at making everyone feel welcome on QL...you will be sorely missed!!!

as I doubt that anyone else would be able to put in the same energy and zest that you have put in organizing the gatherings.

Your impartiality is another of your key features.

Its not just that you organise events, you are so good at putting a group of people who don't know each other at ease. I feel terrible now for missing the last few things, work has taken up all my time lately. I am really sad but can understand why you are fed up. jj

thatguy, u say u can do it but trust me it takes alot of work and effort, and very good organizational skills...and on top of that, we're a hopeless bunch! Xena is the only one who was able to really set things in motion. I'm sure I can't do it! lol

I totally agree with Jauntie, if u resign, there will rarely be anymore get-togethers. We're a bunch of lazy bums who need a person like u to kick us in the rear so we can get out...once we're out though we're alot of fun! I promise!! *gives the puppy eyes look*

Come on! Don't give up on us .. like corne, and others, said I would never have met ANYONE if it hadn't been for you organising social get togethers.

Maybe the Camping trip was a bit too adventurous?

You are a great organiser and very much appreciated by us ALL. I didn't realise you had only been the Manager of the Soc. Group for only 6 months, but don't forget we are really only just over Ramadan and the Eid which followed - LOADS of people were away on holiday and there was probably only a mere skeleton of QLers around for the best part of the last 2 months!

Well, if you can't be persuaded to actually stay as the Manager per se then PLEASE at least keep posting suggestions for coffee evenings or whatever and see what happens, hmmm?

:D

Xena, if it wasn't for u I wouldn't have all those wonderful people and became really good friends with some. Thank u for all ur efforts, I know I would've never been able to pull off what u do. It's very much appreciated and I doubt anyone can fill ur shoes.

hi xena you have obviously done a great job over QL social get togethers.

however i wish you wouldnt take poor attendance too personally.

take me for eg. ive been able to attend just one gathering and missed out on lots others.thats what a really busy job does to you.and the last few days i have hardly logged on to QL as well.

i am sure others have the same story to tell...

i am not sure if there is anyone else around who can put in all that effort which you did but i just hope there is someone who can spare the time and effort.i could assist in whatever little time i have.

boy i was really looking forwards to that camp.....

anyway dont take it too hard xena....cheer up.

do it right - the first time!

It's a tough job, I can imagine. Gotta admit, despite being a member of this group, I haven't attended a single gathering. I can always blame a lot of other things I've been held up with, but thats not really an excuse.

Thanks to all your efforts and great work by you. I wonder if anyone else could have devoted so much time and energy (not to forget personal money as well) in trying to organize such events.

Maybe you should give it one more try, perhaps this thread will act as a warning for many members like me.

Take care and give it one more chance. Winter's fast approaching we could have many fun get-togethers! :)
