Go-Kart Circuit in Qatar

It is high time we need a go-kart circuit in Qatar. Being an F1 and motor racing fanatic, I just cannot help feeling frustrated that Qatar is deprived of a go-kart circuit, let alone one with world class facilities.

It's really hard to imagine that Qatar despite being sporting capital of Middle East actually doesn't have such a thing. The one at the City Center is pretty much equivalent of a kiddie ride. Sadly there isn't any news on the horizon of such a thing coming up either.

A friend of mine did complete feasibility study of having a go-kart facility few years back but the Sheikh (sponsor) backed out at the last minute and all the studies went down the drain.

For sure last Eid was perhaps most boring one in Qatar for me in the recent times. Lack of entertainment facilities only justifies the need for having a go-kart here. Moreover, newly adopted strict traffic laws adds to frustration of "speed" lovers. So what place better than a go-kart circuit to show off your talent and get rid of your craving for speed!??

Any comments or news on such a thing happening in Qatar?

Would anyone be interested in starting such a facility, if there's none under planning. I am very keen on this project and assure my whole hearted devotion towards it.

Yes, I agree. It is time for a track. I have sent emails to qatar racing club about starting one and I really would like one here. It is such a fun sport. That younger and older people can participate in that isn't so extreme like car racing. So please tell me if you here word of a track. I know of two but they dony have races or very good karts. One is at villagio and the other at lusail circuit. Both are small and have arround 60 ss motors.

Aladin kingdom once had an Oval Kart track (outdoor)

All brand new Honda 4 strokes, Blue and White Overalls, White Helmets, Rule Notice Boards, Flags, etc...(though no electronic lap boards)

I am a crazy GK enthusiast, closest was trips to Dubai (formula 1 track on SHK Zaid rd,,,sadly no more)

Now settled for annual GK vacation back home in Bombay (1 outdoor track with up n down hill straights and 1 indoor fast flat)

GK is huge in India, Age groups start from 8 years and above, check the below link out

I will look for the bright side to Qatar's GK track (where ever it may prop up), i.e hopefully my kids would take it up by then

The Go Kart track is a part of a Grand Plan which consist of a 5 star hotel also. I think it is the ownership and the extent of the land that matters. Actually it is near abu Hamur Area.

Industrial area!????

Thanks for the info Charan. Although, I think any place close to Losail Circuit or Close to Aladin Kingdom (West Bay) or the stretch or land between Doha - Wakrah would have been more appropriate.

Go kart track is a part of the F1 track near the industrial area. Stage 1 is being built now. (Drag Track). Preliminary design for phase 2,3 & 4 has been approved in prinicipal and waiting for the official go ahead. Total project is very much bigger than the Bahrain F1 Track.

The opportunities for Advertisement and Marketing are endless accepted, and I'm sure every venture has its ways to handle issues and concerns, and I personally would also never mind to go and spend a while at the Tracks...

Well, as I had mentioned earlier, the project is superb and yeah...

For those who don't know what I am talking about, here's the website of one of the best ever karting circuit I've been to. This one is in Bangkok. http://www.kartingstadium.com/

The best part, it's constructed in such a way that circuits can be re-designed internally to give a brand new look every 2 months or so.

It's got all the facilities like lap times / best laps on gigantic screen. They also provide overalls, helmets etc etc. You name it they've got it.

Ksarat : As for opportunities and smooth running of the place? There are plenty of ways to do so. Tell me places/events in Qatar where companies involved in motor industry like Toyota, Honda, Bridgestone, Dunlop, Shell, Mobil and many many more have chances to advertise themselves? This is a perfect platform for them to project their products. Marketing wise, Corporate fun-day out, private parties and so many more are already done at the venue mentioned above. Oppotunities are endless.

Business aside, as an individual, I really don't mind spending Qrs. 1,000 a month on spending time driving go-karts alone, if there's such a thing available in Qatar.

Hang in there guys.. I heard that Losail International Circuit will soon have the best Go-Karting Track. From what I know some planning is on in the background and I am sure the Motor Sports Federation will soon have their plans underway to have a Go-Karting Track which will mostly be indoor and also of International Standards.

Well, ofcourse the idea is a superb project...but the question how would you maintain it buddy...keeping in mind the various concerned in regards to the diverse set of people who would use it...the security and stuff like that...

By the way, you had mentioned that your friend had done a complete study...so whats it look like...what are the numbers looking like...

I'm sure there are some Business Driven facts and figures...

What does it take to implement this...

I'm sure if presented with a proper plan and a Business Case this idea would get a support from the Ministry here promoting and adding to the Tourism industry in terms of Recreations and Entertainment...

Idea is good, and this place starves of Entertainment I'm sure you would also agree to that after having spent a long time in this place and watching this place grow from nothing to something...

So while the project is interesting...what is on your cards bro...

By the way, how you doing, how did your Show go...
