please take care it is not only the big speed cameras scattered in the streets they also pet a smaal cameras which are small and mavable so they change their locations randomly!!!!

the speed limit mostly 80 in most of Qatar streets do u think this is a logic limit??

do u know a country has a traffic violation fines more than here?
i don't know why Qatar is doing that exaggerated laws and actions??

People to tend to forget that the purpose of driving on streets/freeways/highways etc. ANYWHERE, is to get from point A to B in one piece. Not to drive like maniacs at 100km + because they think it's fun or cool.

This is why there is a speed limit of 80km. For the majority of people who can't drive, even this is to fast for them.

If you want to drive like a maniac to get your thrills, go do it somewhere where you can only injure/kill yourself and not innocent people.

I'm sure there are many places in Qatar to do that!

with my personal experiences having 7 radars shots of my car, the minimum speed limit is 80, then 100 and 120

after the shots u can findout exactly which road , what speed u where at while visiting the traffic dept. while u pay. speed is clearly mentioned at the snaps.

Radars work on radio frequency.

Leadars ar more accurate because the signals ar digital,

but Radars are enough for qatar because of the enviornmental condition -weather

This happened to someone I know... Friend was travelling the fast lane (extreme left) within the speed limit and someone else overtook him from the middle lane (overspeeding at the same time)... Radar takes picture of the cars (both cars in the same shot) and my friend who was in the fast lane is fined, since he's in the fast lane and hence has to be the one speeding!!!!.....Friend tried to object....but in vain!

where is your logic and how many people die on Saudi roads each year, whole families die on those roads.

What happens when you get a flat tyre do you know how to handle that with 220 no I am sure you don't have an inclination - probably slam on the brakes - which automatically turns the car over.

Anyway you do what you want I am happy with the cameras and the fines that everbody will pay if it will help my safety here.

I'm off for the weekend. Have a good weekend

i think these r internal small streets but im asking about a road like salwa rd with no schools

By anonymous• 27 Dec 2007 15:15
anonymous

It does not make a difference if the roads are good it is the security and precision how you drive your car, and those driving full blast through the city with 100 are not able to stop in an emergency especially the landcruisers and SUVs they loose balance very easily this is why you see so mny upturned in the street.

By ashahhat• 27 Dec 2007 15:15

i'm telling the logic not speakin on my wishes

for me i;m driving in wakra road on 170!

when i was in saudi i reached 220!

in egypt my max was 150!

but i still recommend 100 in a road like stadium or salwa road etc..

By ashahhat• 27 Dec 2007 15:12
ashahhat

yes i dont drive so fast like here cuz i told u that it is relative according to the road not according to the person in a city like doha with good quality roads the minimum is 100

that is general.in every city or town is max.50,because if the scoolbuses and kids.We also have some parts in which is only 30 alowed.Smile.That is near scools or kindergardens and so on.And some citys have parts in which is forbidden to drive.

:-D

They do it because the traffic situations don't allow them to drive any faster and often the streets are smaller. In fact where schools are they have to drive 30 which is just good and right.

I am quite sure where you come from with all the traffice jams you dan't drive so fast.

i believe that they should vote to chooose a speed limit

i wondered 50 only do u have a problems or holes in the town !!!!!

even if somebody tailgates me on the slower lane i keep my cool and constant speed

they get tired and switch to the faster lane and zoom off

By ashahhat• 27 Dec 2007 14:59
ashahhat

u cant say that 80 or 50 or 120 are the right limit its a relative issue regarding the road

i see that in doha it should be minimum 100

i see also that 80 is killing me and the "drivers" but any one see 80 is ok in doha is a beginner

In Germany the Autobahn is not free at least not all over - there are places where they have to drive slower. However, tailgating is a sport and makes driveres nervous no doubt about it.

No they are not it just looks like that because they are sitting in big cars, they are reckelss and unpredictable as are many other races here in Qatar it is a national sport here - I have even been tailgated by europeans would you believe????

in the towns we have 50 here, outside 80 and for freeways is 120.But 120 is slow when the street is free,i prefere the German System, there is no limit for freeways.Normally they drive 160 or 180 there.Which is defenetly to fast for me and to dangerous.

lol on It's a long way from camels to real cars. but to tell you the truth Qatari's eventhough they drive in neck breaking speed they are quite adapt at it its just some new drivers who dont have thatmuch control of their cars who are dangerous

thats why i always drive on the slow lane where nobody can tailgate me

be safe

By ashahhat• 27 Dec 2007 14:53

how much is the fine for that in Swiss

In many other countries you are not allowed to drive over 50 kmph and with the growing traffice this will come here too. People are not in a rush they just want to make sure their cars are driven flat out, and I feel very unsafe when they com whooshing past me at 120kmph as mosto f them can't drive properly anyway. It's a long way from camels to real cars.

80 speed is OK i think so specially for a heavy traffic zone like Doha

I sometimes wonder as to why people are always in such a hurry when they sit behind the wheels

do u hav a road in doha wher u can go at 80 for a complete 5 mins?

It is already to fast forthe people who can't control their cars and how many have died because of speeding. The trafffic is getting thicker nowadays which allows less speed anyway, but, as far as I am concerned I find the cameras the best idea here since sliced bread.

There are too many ruffians on the road men and women who don't know traffic rules .
