As Jauntie said, if it's commission then beware.

Even if you are designing and not selling, the same applies

i am an ERP/CRM (Business Solutions) Consultant. Schools are expensive here, health care is expensive, living isnt as cheap as you probably imagine it to be. 28 is a good number to keep you running, but in the long run your savings might be minimal... if you make that number in jordan than your better off staying there... take it from me... you dont want to regret anything.

there is alot to sacrafice when you come to the gulf... i only left 6 months back and came to qatar...

you sacrafice your job, public relations in jordan and most important you sacrafice not being around your immediate family which is a killer, if not to you then to them!

you know how we arabs are... family means everything to us!

well, i don't have to worry about the commission coz i'm not sales i'm a presales consultant, and my commission is based on what i design and the sales peeps sell.

and the commission structure is quartrly paid, i made sure of this point as well.

i believe, in order to make sure of everything, i'll push them to add all terms in the contract and have it approved from the Jordanian embassy in qatar or the labor admin office in qatar if any.

i know the company has a very well reputation in Qatar.

lol @alexa

@bimmer, he's got kids and needs to worry about a total of 4 mouths to feed. Thus he'll definately need accommodation on top of his salary.

So either stick with your original offer and ask for accommodation or ask for a higher salary.

I imagine you'd get away with a 2 bedroom apartment for now, but I'd aim for a 3.

I'm going by my own standards of course.

Ok, ... Guys and Gals.. all whoever provided help in this topic.

I Thank you all for the advice..you were great peeps and so kind to answer back.

i believe that i will ask them for 28K icluding everythig whcih will be fair to cover the cost of living and so i'll be saving the commissions which is i hope will reach the 70K.

cheers

bimmer.

amnesia..

do you mean i have to ask accommodation on top of the 28K ?

I think that people didn't see that he wrote he'd get 50-70k a year.

That's 4-6k a month.

So that means his salary would be 26-28k a month.

Take it from me. Tell them that you'll keep the salary as it is, but want Accommodation set. Then you'll be more than fine.

Oryx,

can you advise what is a good package.

if i asked for 28K and on top of this i would be earning around 60K commissions.

would that be a good package then?

also, what is the rent for a 3 B in a good area with gym and pool.

Listen im jordanian, and let me tell you, if you and your wife are making 21K a month then take the advise from me your better off to stay in jordan! lower rent, schooling, expenditure, and a better atmosphere! with 22K a month here you will not be able to save 10% of what you can save with the 21K you are earning in jordan!

Good Luck!!

Hi Oryx,

the Job is a technical Consaltant and a Presales in a computer company called QDS.

and yes, i have to pay for everything (housing, Schooling ..etc)

at the moment my salary is around 11K, and my wife work as well and her salary is also around 10K, but where i live the housing is much lower than Qatar, as i've heard its extremly high in Qatar.

You have not told us for what job.

Do you have to pay your own housing?

Do you have to pay your kids' school fees?

Where do you live at the moment?

How much are you getting paid?

The worth of the package depends upon your present status and benefits.
