Your correct on the visa, they just automatically give us a 4 week visa. We have however got Mum here air ticket for TWO weeks ONLY. They can give her a 6 month visa if they want, Mum is ONLY saying the TWO weeks!!!!!!!

We've been staying with Mum for 2 weeks while back here in the UK and I know another 2 weeks will drive me MAD. Little things like: I have just finished a glass of wine, I go to get another & Mum has already washed the glass!!!!!!. Wish me luck :D

.. with her from UK for 4 weeks hol. She has been here for a visit before and they simply got the usual Visitors Visa at the airport when they arrived. Lima_foxtrot thought it would be for 2 weeks, but they handed her mum a 4 week Visa without question.

This is what I shall do for my sister later this month, but only for TWO weeks ;D

No need to be scared. The next door is a Temple and a religeous ceremony was going on all night long. so he sneeked to the place where nobody will suspect. we also didn't notice his absence. He only told us afterwards but one guy has seen it and confirmed.

I still have no internet at work and I work away from home now.

I don't have much time to chat on-line when I am home because I am only here for a couple of days then back off again.

And as you know things have been a little distracting lately.

my mom came to visit us here in doha some 3 weeks ago and in a weeks time she will be going home. how i wish that she would come live with us here considering she is living alone with the maid back home. all my other siblings live in diff parts of the world and me being the oldest i want to take care of her but she wont have it that way. if would be better for everyone if she did so we did not have to worry abt her and having to run back and forth when she is unwell. if only it were as easy as that and mom would agree to come live with us.wat can i do............

however, in most western societies, once we are 18, we move out and live our own lives..its a bit different here and in other countries, where the families live all together under one roof. Its tough to have your parents and/or inlaws move in with you after having had total independence for so long.

i know it can be done at few places other then Bed room in Doha too. Dont want to give names of places.... just in case they open a police station out there.

to get my visitor's visa to come over to Doha to be with hub. It's valid for one year (could have been for 2 or more, but I ticked the wrong box duh).

It allows me to stay for 3 months at a time - they wouldn't allow longer at the time I got it last April.

Not sure if same type of visa is available apply for parents' visits, but worth asking about it, perhaps, if they intend visiting often?

Very simple they have a cook an a maid and a driver and 10 cars and a tailor, not to mention how many rooms and how they are allocated

This is so true - when my Mother-in-Law came to visit her son in Berlin he asked me if she could cook sometimes - well she did and that every day of 6 weeks (not to mention she wanted to stay longer) but gues who had to do all the cleaning up after she usedthe kitchen lil ol me!!!!!

A bonus point about North Korea is that you couldn't get your parents a visa.

Is their any provision for semi-dependent (i.e., not financially dependent) parents to stay with their expat child for longer than 30 days at a time? Has anyone heard of such a case?

Actually I think parent visa should be a MAXIMUM of 15 days so they can't out stay their welcome

Your parents do not need a visa if they are from USA, Canada or the EU, they get one on arrival. Mine have come to see me without any problems at all. They get a visa on arrival which takes just a few seconds (though they must use a credit card).

They can stay for up to 30 days. I think you are British and if your parents are British they won't have any difficulties.
