Parents visiting me in Qatar
Hi.
Does anyone definitively know what the situation is with elderley parents visiting their child and grandchild(ren) who live and work as expats in Qatar? What is the definitive situation on how often visas can be issued, and how long they can stay each time?
Do/can Qatar-based employers assist with working with the Qatari immigration authorities so that a flexible visa can be issued to parents?
And lastly, does anyone get any form of expat allowance that takes into account parents who need to live or regularly visit their expat families?
Thanks in advance for the responses!
Sounds like your mum would get on well with my husband! He does that too :D
Lord, keep Your arm around my shoulder and Your hand over my mouth
Your correct on the visa, they just automatically give us a 4 week visa. We have however got Mum here air ticket for TWO weeks ONLY. They can give her a 6 month visa if they want, Mum is ONLY saying the TWO weeks!!!!!!!
We've been staying with Mum for 2 weeks while back here in the UK and I know another 2 weeks will drive me MAD. Little things like: I have just finished a glass of wine, I go to get another & Mum has already washed the glass!!!!!!. Wish me luck :D

.. with her from UK for 4 weeks hol. She has been here for a visit before and they simply got the usual Visitors Visa at the airport when they arrived. Lima_foxtrot thought it would be for 2 weeks, but they handed her mum a 4 week Visa without question.
This is what I shall do for my sister later this month, but only for TWO weeks ;D

It is true for Asians.
my mother came for 7 days, four years ago... and I was counting down the time for her to go.
And that is her lot... no coming back.
Don't parents realise that you may have a sex life???
I heard that parents above 60 years can not get a visa to visit their children. By the way I am from Turkey.
Can it be true?
...what have I started?

Call me Maninibat!
No need to be scared. The next door is a Temple and a religeous ceremony was going on all night long. so he sneeked to the place where nobody will suspect. we also didn't notice his absence. He only told us afterwards but one guy has seen it and confirmed.
I still have no internet at work and I work away from home now.
I don't have much time to chat on-line when I am home because I am only here for a couple of days then back off again.
And as you know things have been a little distracting lately.
Call me Maninibat!
for 5 weeks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Please kill me now !!!!

I'm [fingers crossed coming over in a few months and I will be looking to bring my Mother and my Mother-in-law over.
richard123 kindly advises they will be able to come over for 30 days, so thank you for that.
I will also be wanting to bring my Daughters boy friend over.
What is the visa situation for him as he is not a dependant?
Call me Maninibat!

my mom came to visit us here in doha some 3 weeks ago and in a weeks time she will be going home. how i wish that she would come live with us here considering she is living alone with the maid back home. all my other siblings live in diff parts of the world and me being the oldest i want to take care of her but she wont have it that way. if would be better for everyone if she did so we did not have to worry abt her and having to run back and forth when she is unwell. if only it were as easy as that and mom would agree to come live with us.wat can i do............
life's too short , make the most of it , you only love once...
Ohh fiddledeedee.....
sand goes into every crack and crevice..and goodness knows how much sand there is everywhere here...but..I think I know where you are talking about now...lol
And charan...I'd be scared too silly to do anything in a cemetary except look at headstones...
Scarlett - go and check the website for confirmation. Dubai has the highest no. of adverts.
Actually one of my friend had that expeience in a cemetry around 2.00am :)
Scar... charan is being naughty.. dont u dare try any motel / hotel.. u dont want to take any chances.
go for the open skies dear... no more clues lady

my goodness...scared stiff takes on a whole new meaning then..
Lets not get technical here but it is not in cars. Those are better and relaxed places.
Nothing rocks or not even a ghost will knock
[img_assist|nid=60386|title=.|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=|height=0]
now i'll have to go check just for grins
Look at Escorts section of Qatar on expatriates.com to see the adverts for services in hotels.
I want to know HOW you know that...so will just grin and say..ok....just warn me so I don't come driving up and see the steamed up windows....and then the old saying would apply..if the car is rocking, don't come knocking...
however, in most western societies, once we are 18, we move out and live our own lives..its a bit different here and in other countries, where the families live all together under one roof. Its tough to have your parents and/or inlaws move in with you after having had total independence for so long.
i know it can be done at few places other then Bed room in Doha too. Dont want to give names of places.... just in case they open a police station out there.
[img_assist|nid=60386|title=.|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=|height=0]
you can't have sex anywhere and in any place..have you forgotten WHERE we live??? You can get deported for that!!!
I Think nobody here cares about their parents. After all what they have done.you should be thankful,at least...
I'm with you 100%, you can always come over here. (no pun intended)
to get my visitor's visa to come over to Doha to be with hub. It's valid for one year (could have been for 2 or more, but I ticked the wrong box duh).
It allows me to stay for 3 months at a time - they wouldn't allow longer at the time I got it last April.
Not sure if same type of visa is available apply for parents' visits, but worth asking about it, perhaps, if they intend visiting often?
Very simple they have a cook an a maid and a driver and 10 cars and a tailor, not to mention how many rooms and how they are allocated
Canarybird - I am wondering how extended Qatari families live together in the same house. Go and do a research on this subject
This is so true - when my Mother-in-Law came to visit her son in Berlin he asked me if she could cook sometimes - well she did and that every day of 6 weeks (not to mention she wanted to stay longer) but gues who had to do all the cleaning up after she usedthe kitchen lil ol me!!!!!
thats why you shouldn't get married
one set of parents is bad enough
I thought parents are also inlaws after marriage. so it is the same thing.
[img_assist|nid=60386|title=.|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=|height=0]
Don't you heard the saying "Two women can not share a single kitchen:)
the only thing worse than living with parents is living with in-laws...
my family get on wonderfully as long as each one resides on a different continent...
If you living with the parents, It is a big mistake
Avywhere nobody is inside your house unless you want show them a free show.
Oryx: Parents are not only to look for what we get as inheritance.
whatz the big deal in living with parents.
I dont stay with them and neither was living in a joint family in India but its not such a bad idea to say YUK.
[img_assist|nid=60386|title=.|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=|height=0]
Oryx _ I think you make lot of noices during your sessions:)
yuk disgusting with your relatives in the house...
anyway who wants their parents to stay for more than a week...
you invite them do some sightseeing and send them away - and only bother if they have something to inherit
Sex can be had anywhere and at all possible places.
Charan: y only in bed room ????
[img_assist|nid=60386|title=.|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=|height=0]
Orxy - Go and have sex sessions in your bed room instead of living room :)
Are you all sick in the head wanting your parents to stay with you???
A bonus point about North Korea is that you couldn't get your parents a visa.
Is their any provision for semi-dependent (i.e., not financially dependent) parents to stay with their expat child for longer than 30 days at a time? Has anyone heard of such a case?
Orxy - Your mother-in-law on the way to Qatar????????????
No visa for Asians if your parent abve 60 years:(
Actually I think parent visa should be a MAXIMUM of 15 days so they can't out stay their welcome
Your parents do not need a visa if they are from USA, Canada or the EU, they get one on arrival. Mine have come to see me without any problems at all. They get a visa on arrival which takes just a few seconds (though they must use a credit card).
They can stay for up to 30 days. I think you are British and if your parents are British they won't have any difficulties.
The beatings will continue until morale improves.
