It basically depends on your lifestyle. I wud say 14000 is managable.

tantor ... depend on your standard back home. Take other people posts as a 'tongue in cheek'. The members on this board come from different background. From earning QR 3000 a month (or maybe less) to earning QR 30.000 a month (or maybe more). What good for them ... probably not enough for others. What not enough for them ... probably will be good enough for others.

Bear in mind about your son's schooling too ... will the company pay for it?

Medical and dentist should be taken into consideration also.

And do you have any expenses from your home country? Mortgage, child allowance maintenance, etc etc?

PS : Make sure the company pay your airfare to go home at least once a year.

Good luck.

is enough to live on!

My wife and I live on very slightly more than that, have a 2bed flat that comes out of our salary (not provided) and as europeans live a life similar to that we could live in europe. aLthough we have no children 14,000 it's fine here.

Oh my must be one of these people who gets paid an absolute fortune and can't imagine that it is possible to live on less. It is possible, and quite happily.

Oh My

you guys keep telling these poor people that 14k is enough to live on in Qatar then they will continue to come here and be subjected to living in slum like conditions driving around in cars with the wheels about to fall off and sending their kids to schools where the only thing the teachers do is let the children run wild all over the place like they're at home being watched by maids. Please...enough is enough...tell the people the truth so that they can make an informed decision rather than have them quit their jobs back home and be subjected to second class status or worse.

If it is 14,000 per mouth, and there are three mouths, then it is very good :)

If your son is school aged then you need schooling paid for. It is very expensive here.

is comparable to Europe although much cheaper than the UK. French is a good subject to have as a teacher as it is taught in both Arabic and International schools. Carrefour prices are a little less than in Europe for groceries except for certain imported goods, especially Christmas food! Good luck

I wouldn't say 14000 QR is a 'very good' salary but given the size of your family and the fact that your company is providing you with accomodation;it's an amount you can live very very comfortably with some saving at the end of the month. The cost of living here is a little on the higher side but your salary should be able to cover everything as I said earlier. I think you should go for it if everything else is considered career wise.

Hope this helps.
