Bay City Rollers

The Bay City Rollers. Ohhhhhhh, those were the day, me wearing trousers and jacket with a tartan stripe, not forgetting a tartan scarf around my wrist.
I was about 15/15 (gosh showing my age)when I went twice to see them in concert and I though I looked great (me now cringing).
I used to look forward to the Top of the Pops coming on, along with my griends, I would be in my bedroon watching them on the TV singing, Bye Bye Baby, it was soooooooooo good. And I even have all the records still at home in the UK, and have to admit I have since got a couple of CD's that I play in the car. Ufortunatley, I can't play them in the car when my Husband is in, can't think why!!!!!
Does anyone remember them? My favourite is Les, who's yours?

Was Les the lead singer? An ex girlfriend of mine was his accountant in the early 80's, she said he was a very arrogant tw*t.

Ah, but T Rex ruled.

Yes, I think i've come a long way since my Roller's days. lol

I know I could have googled that but I never bothered...... anyway he was a real genuine guy, I remember our chat well. I think in those days if you were a boy it wasnt cool to be a "Roller" even though we we all never missed a Tuesday at 5pm when they had their own TV show. I think I was more a Glam rocker in those day even though I didnt know what Glam rock was..... Gary Glitter (whod have thought he would end up like he did) Mud, Showaddywaddy. As I had no older brother or sisters it wasnt until around 78 I discovered the likes of Genesis, Deep Purple and of course the awesome Led Zepplin... still to be heard pounding out of my Kia Sorento when ever im out on the road.

Music just isnt the same these days, I wonder how many of todays groups will still be around in 30 or 40 years time. And if they wer'nt but anounced a one of come back tour the tickets would sell out in seconds.

I'm not the only one on QL who remembers them. lol

Nidge, Pilot was a pop rock group formed in 1973 in Edinburgh, by former Bay City Rollers members David Paton and Billy Lyall. So yes it could be either of them who you was talking to.

I was at primary school in the north of scotland when the Bay City Rollers were big.

I remember them well, I guess I was about 13 too at the time. Last year I was sat in the bar at Heathrow waiting of my flight here and got talking to a guy about 10 years older than myself from Scotland. Anyway a few beers into the conversation I found this guy has a band, my daughter is also in a band. So the guy with a smile tells me he was in the Bay city rollers but left to form another band... which was Pilot, who I also rememember... they sang January, and Magic. Genuine nice guy I just wish I had more time to hear how life was in the glory years of Teen pop and Glam rock..... who was he... havnt got a clue, but I believed him because is lnowledge of that era was amazing, so if he wasnt a band member he must have been in production. Its amazing the number of names, that played in more than one band.

David Bowie!!! No way as good as the Bay City Rollers. lol. Although I did and still like David Cassidy!!

Yeah, I had posters up in my room and used to watch everything I could on the Rollers, especially Shang-A-Lang when it went onto the tv network in 1975. Gosh, I am getting old!!
