Cola Additive

A new health scare has errupted over softdrinks amid evidence they may cause serious damage.Research from a British university suggests a common preservative found in fizzy drinks has the ability to switch off vital parts of DNA.

The findings could have serious consecquenses for the hundreds of millions of people worldwide who consume fizzy drinks. They will also intensify the controversy about food additives, which have been linked to hyperactivity in children.Concerns centre on the safety of E211, known as SODIUM BENZOATE, a preservative used for decades by the 74bn pound global carbonated drinks industry. Sodium Benzoate derives from Benzoic Acid. It occurs naturally in berries, but it is used large quantities to prevent molds in soft drinks. It is also added to pickles and sauces.

Sodium benzoate has already been the subject of concern about because when mixed with the additive Vit. C in soft drinks, it causes Benzene, a carcinogenic substance. A Food Standard Agency survey of Benzene in drinks found high levels in four brands which were removed from sale. Prof. Peter Piper, a professor of molecular biology, and biotechnology tested the impact of  Sodium Benzoate on living yeast cells in his labaorator, what he found, alarmed him, benzoate was damaging an important area of DNA in the power station of cells known as mitochondria.

The Professor advised the parents to think carefully about buying drinks with preservatives until the quantities of products were proved safe for new tests.

put a piece of raw meat into a glass and pour coke over it..check it the next morning...its almost all dissolved...just think what it does to your digestive system.

Sodas also leach the calcium out of your bones...they are having issues with children that drink a lot of sodas, having brittle bones. Liek anything else, moderation in all things.  I prefer fresh juices  or bottled water to sodas..much better for you and they taste wonderful.

The only way I drink soft drinks is with rum...I think it probably detoxifies it...ahem...

Many many years ago when I went to school we put an old penny in a glass of coke, (the science teacher wanted to show how dangerous coke was) and believe it or not after two days lying in the coke that penny was bright and shiney and looked like new, imagine what it does to the body.

Soft drinks are terrible. Years ago, I was guzzling bottles of them daily at work and buying the jumbo bottles to take home. One day I was with a friend and wanted to buy a couple of soft drinks for us. He politely refused, saying that he worked in one of the soft drink factories and none of the employees in the factory ever drank a drop of the stuff they were chruning out ! He explained what went into it and that was enough for me. I switched over to drinking water and fresh fruit juices  and said good bye to a variety of stomach related complaints ever since !

I can say that anything we take is dangerous if we consume much. So there is no better than "EAT MODERATELY' "DRINK SUEY-SUEY' HE HE!

Researchers are always coming out with something or another to scare us its like they have nothing better to do with their time. I say eat, drink and be merry for tomorrow you might get hit by a bus. :)

Everything is dangerous to us - and eventually we will all die from something.

I saw a research like this a few years ago, it was really scary.. until I looked how many liters of Softdrinks you had to drink every day to become sick...

I suspect even the orange juices in the tetra because, benzoate  it says plus  Vit.C equals benzene...
