Dental Department in Apollo Clinic
I want to share with you my experience with this popular clinic in Doha. Last Feb 22, I have an appointment to visit a dentist made 5 days earlier at 7:30 PM via telephone just for teeth cleaning. When I arrived, the reception is fine and told to wait in the lounge. Time passed by and around 10:30PM I was able to see the dentist and he checked my teeth for 2 minutes and said go for the X-ray. This another queue. After that I was sent back to the dentist again in queue, who gave a prescription for 2 kinds of medicine for 5 days. He again scheduled me to come back after 8 days at 6:30 pm. This time with appointment card.
I came back on the appoinment date and on time at 6:30PM. I was shocked to find out that after 45 minutes of waiting there are at least 4 more patients ahead of me with this doctor. The irony is that there are other dentists without any patient for the last hour or so. Only this denstist is having the majority of consultation and treatment. etc. This is when I decided to remove my appointment card and get it replaced in the reception. This is without harse words exchanged with the dentist. With much complaning in the reception, I was transferred to another dentist who performed the cleaning in 15 minutes!!
The first time I was there, I have to wait for 3 hours just to be given another appointment, so its frustrating to have another wait. I guess this doctor or the clinic reception has a good connivance that all new patient/s will be referred to him. Many of the people waiting their turns are getting their faces grim due to too much waiting.
Lastly, I am using a medical insurance Inter-Global and I believe this clinic is charging too much because the insurance company is paying them. The service overall from this clinic is getting poorer by the day.
In conclusion, you need to have extra time when visiting this clinic or dentist. Better to have a private dentist with a private clinic for a fast and efficient service and a personal touch.
The insurance card will never give you more convenience in service though in payment it will surely help.
I highly recommend Dr THASEEN PARVEEN the BEST DENTIST I ever had. She is Very professional and straightforward of what needs to be done. I am really happy with her work and do recommend it to everyone

One of my friend got a job at APOLLO DENTAL & FDC , he may be appointed in one of them, as a Dental Specialist .
His Salary is QR 20000 ( All inclusive Basic , Housing,Overtime,Shift ,Furniture,Transportation ,Educational,Leave Pay,Travel Allowance).
If anyone is working or had worked in Apollo Dental, kindly inform about the working conditions there .
Is QR 20000 a good salary for Indian Dental Specialist (Not general Dentist) ?
We need as many opinions as possible for him to decide .All feedbacks are highly appreciated .

If you plan to take employment in apollo ,future medical or any subsidiaries under doha health care follow the conditions below;
1) A specialist with three years experience should demand a basic pay of 25000 riyals for eight hour work which is the lowest median basic salary in Qatar for docs.Nurses 8000 riyals.With each year experience above three years add 1000 riyals for doctors and nurses 300 riyals.
2) Ask for a housing allowance of 12000 riayals for doctors and nurses 7000 riyals.Housing is very expensive here.DON’T accept their housing you will be put in a labor accommodation.
3) A transport allowance of 4000 riyals for doctors and 2000 riyals for nurses.
4) Any over time obove 8 hours demand 3000 riyals per hour for doctors and 1000 riyals for nurses per month.
5) A compulsory annual increment of 15%.
6) 40 days annual paid leave of the basic salary.gratuity…
7) Do not accept broken shift duties.
8) Make it clear in the labor contract you would be allowed to change your job to other places in Qatar with one months notice.Tell them to issue a NOC undated for change of work and NOC undated to health authority permitting you to change to other clinics if you want to change from apollo.Collect these before joining.
9) Sign two original copies of the contract in your country only.Tell them to post the two undated NOCs and 2 copies of labor contract to you.Keep one with you and send the other to them.

Appolo clinic, future medical and its other new ventures under doha health care management are poor choices to work.The pay is poor and the harrassement and abuse from the Indian director can make a person feel being without job is better than working there.You should be ready to change live into someting like slavery or prison term.You will save nor earn anything but end up in debt and finally career doom.This is rated as the worst hell of places in the middleast. It is true the sponsorers are know to be reputed and decent people who are unawares of the happening in the organization.They only made the mistake of entrusting the management to this Indian director who is the hell maker there.He came to Qatar several years back as a laborer and was promoted as in charge of laborers and now the director controlling doctors and nurses.His labor culture and uncivilized behavior is the reason for apollos doom.He thinks all are laborers like him.He also recruits laborers and supplies them to other contracting companies.He has cheated so many laborers and earned their curses.
This sob directors main hobby is cutting and stealing the salaries of the staff and looting the company funds.In order to steal hundred riyals he would pursue it actively.He unnecessariliy levies penalties to the tune of half the salary of the worker violating the Qatar law .He has made a fortune out of penalties alone.Anything he has made is all illgotten .There is not a single person whos happy there.It is very true no one stays there more than a few months.Nine doctors left in one single month.He promises people so much and cheats them after arrival making this a death trap.Your salary decreases than increasing.Your contract benefits like gratuity etc would be stolen by him.When one realizes that other medical centers pay more than five times they get in apollo they get frustrated and dejected.A Hamad nurse gets a much better pay than a specialist doctor in Apollo.After arrival they are forced to sign a contract without being allowed to read it.The staff are forced to sign declarations of forfeiture of salary and have to deposit their original qualification certificates .Those who leave have not been given their certificates back. His illegal activity ranges from salary theft to falsifying documents and contracts.There are loads of complaints at the labor department.The filipines government blacklisted Apollo Qatar and has advised their citizens not to work there.He uses agents for illegal recruitment from there.His latest activity is extortion after recruitment.After recruiting he reduces the salary from promised amount and makes conditions miserable for the person.When the employee gets fed up and wants to leave he demands a huge amount as bribe to give the exit.This man fails to understand that if his illegal activities are noticed by the law authorities here in Qatar he would spend the rest of his life in jail.Nobody has complained but left only so he remains a invincible criminal.I heard he is hanging around in a BMW now.God save the ones still working there.
My friend was offered a job at a new venture of Apollo clinic qatar.Can someone give a true feedback about their reputation in terms of employment?Having read the above blogs really makes one jittery.
i think apollo clinic is a very good clinic and i don't know what is with all of you.i have gone there for various visits and everything went fine for me unlike all of you.apollo clinic is a busy clinic so all of you should atlest be patient and try some other clinic if it is busy instead of simply complaining without thinking.
I took my 9 month old son three tomes, everytime new doctor, every time doctor ask me what happened to him, It should be the doctor to find out whats the problem, its a child. First time charge me 50qr, second time 100qr, I asked why?? say price increased. During second visit I took son to ENT specialist, oh god, doctor was busy inside the room without any patient??? for more than 20 min and I was the only visitor to him that day.Never ever try this hospital.

it all started with consultation thing ...
3 guys waiting then there he comes ?Dentist and he immediately asked the 3 of us to go inside together.
I came last so I waited for this 2 guys to finish first. He examined us one by one with the same instruments... I thought that time they have a lot in a tray thats why they're not removing after used by other patient. I only noticed it when finished already examined by this Dentist, I take a look at all the instruments... its all the same mannn I whisper whats this clinic...male dentist with a lot gold in his body, huge ring and bracelet and looks like funky one. I dont know his name , his room at the last one to the right side if you are coming from reception at the dental area.
He gave appointment but the same story I have waited until all the patients finished...whats the use of appointment then??????????
Finally I went home and on the way he called me up I said get all the patients and dont ever give appointment to anyone because it has no meaning to you. The next day I called AXA for this and you know what I was already charged by Appolo! surprisingly.
Anyway they returned the payment to AXA after I called them up with my complaints and dissatisfaction . grrrrrrrrrrr I can still remember the thing they put in my mouth to check my teeth with the same instruments used for other guys ahead of me.
dont blame the darkness. Light a candle.
Next time when you come across any quality issue with any service industry, raise the complaint to the right level.
I just got dental treatment at Apollo using AXA card.
Also there seems to be real improvement in the dental appointments system. If it improves like this, good for everyone.
Who said Apollo is popular?
Still loads of complains are flooding into AXA office for Apollo, I don't think so they will continue their services !

I understand that AXA insurance is re-instated in Apollo Dental clinic from 18th March. Hope patient waiting time at each visit is reduced.
After going thur all the mails, it seems that the real problem is lack of supervision and maintanance of standards of Apollo group in such branch clinics.
Strict discipline to recruitment of doctos and other staff will show results.
I hope the Apollo clinics outside India will be as good for the patients, as the original Apollos of India.
Instead of given excuses if you better train your doctor and staff to interact with the customers in any situation and ensure a equally fit procedure for all. You are not easily accessible to the customer and your staff never wants.

I fully agree with you ! similar case happened with me in Appollo, I visited the dentist for the treatement of my teeth... Dr. took the xray and told me that I need to do a root canal for my teeth since there is a infection, decay, hole, dent, corner also broken, (all those Dr's stories) !! I asked him how much it will cost me?
Dr. asked me: Are you covered with AXA ins. ?
I replies: YES !
Dr. : hmmm ... your budget is QR4500/- (then he called his wife who is also a densit in same hospital, and discussed something in his local language so that i don't understand) Anyhow, in short he put the bill of QR 4,350/- infornt of me. I asked him why so EXPENSIVE ? He said why are you bother, you are covered ! so i smiled at him as asked for next appointment, he gave me the appt. after 3 days and recommended some medicines to reduce the infection and pain.
After taking those medicine which was in Dec 2007 till today my teeths are fine and i never went to Appollo clinic again.
I am sure not only appollo, but almost all the hospitals are making good money from Insurance Companies.
Isn't this a Professional Fraud ? Today's Doctors are not like those old times where they used to treat people for free. But today If you don't have money, Dr. will not touch you unless you depoist some gurantee amount, otherwise you die on the street !!!

Thank you for bringing the incident to our notice. It is a fact that customers sometimes need to wait for a while before seeing the doctor. This is usually due to heavy demand for the services of a particular doctor, or because the procedure is of a particular nature, for which one doctor may be specially qualified (e.g. some prosthodontic and/or orthodontic procedures). Also, patients scheduled for a specific doctor are usually not transferred to another doctor unless the patient specifically requests the same. This is because sometimes a patient seeks a particular doctor on whom they have gained confidence, and since their preferred doctor is usually better acquainted with the case history, in the interest of continuity of care and patient/doctor relationships, clinics will try to ensure the same doctor treats the customer.
However, in the incident described in the blog, this does not appear to have been the case. Yes me too had several bad experience with Apollo clinic though it is one of best in my country. But here they are really spoiling the reputation. I had gone there and waiting more than a hour and suddenly found a arab man entering without waiting. I asked why?? They said they are may be local please ignore it. Next day same story....i found some of their staffs are taking some nationalities directly without any waiting. I again asked the doctor why do they give importance for some specific nationalities...It is totally discrimination...
They dont care about patients and doctors are not professional. If they know the case is covered by insurance then the medicines what they write is too many. I asked the doctor why for a running nose and cough u asked to go for blood test and X-ray and lot of medicines?He said however it is covered by insurance is it????I brought medicines and my wife asked me are u coming from hospital or hypermart?
What a hell? I stopped visiting there any more.
Speed irrespective of the nationality, treatment of patients is the same there.
Every nationality has a complaint aobut them.
It is basically an issue of demand supply gap. This problem exists or developing or being attended in every single industry and organization in Qatar now. While I do not agree with the discrimination issue mentioned here, as a parent I would like to put forward my humble suggestion to all other parents:
" Please do not start looking for a clinic or a doctor only after you or your family member fall sick. As you do in the case of a beauty clinic or coffeshop etc seach in advance scrutinize and get used to the system of your doctor or your clinic for you and your beloved family".
I personally believe that Blogs, particulary QL should help to improve the system and society.

once i was there, i saw doctors names at entrance. .. even show doctors who have left apollo long back !
anyway i am fortunate i consulted only medical doctors few times, not dentists.
any news of the new registry for private doctors ? is it online now ?

had probs with a dentist there.hubby had to take only one tooth, but the dentisit insisted that he take atleast 2 and soon demanded a 1000 riyal. hubby said no and to take only the painful tooth.it is so shameful to say that the dr was actually bargaining. he said ok if u want to take only 1 tooth no probs but u should pay 1000 riyal.my hubby quitted and went to another hospital. apollo stinks!!!
She is doing well now (Alhamdulilah) ... how about you ! i know i have been away from QL for sometime ... sure u all will be in Peace without me ;-)

I got a promotional card for Appolo clinic. One day I dropped by to see what is this clinic about.
I got a whole picture right away from the simple conversation with the receptionist. First, she said, there are no appointments in the clinic, and I have to come over here and wait in the queue. I noticed that there are at least 6-7 people waiting to be served, and they looked like they were waiting for ages there. So I asked the receptionist how long it may take.. she answered she doesn’t know, it might take hours. At least she was honest enough..lol… I left and never came back.

I have had similar experiences with Apollo clinic in the Dental section. Though I had an appointment at 8:00 P.M, I was made to wait till 10:30 P.M. I though this was a stray incident but looks like it is a usual practice.
Oh speed, I am so sorry about your little baby, I do hope she is going to be alright.

I will not name the Country ... people visiting this clinice can see on the main enterance that all the Doctors are from same Country... even they give preference to thier country man only. Since we found this discrimination we stopped visiting Appollo Clinic ! Also I blame Appollo Docotros for the sickness of my Daughter who was initally treated there for 2 weeks and when we took her in Emergency in Al Ahali Hospital, looking at her condition they immediately told us she has severe lungs infection and bronconumenia... she was finally addmitted in Al Ahli Hospt. for 4 night. It took 1 month for her to recover.
If initally, Dr. at Appollo clinic had dignosed her properly (rather i would say professionaly) could have saved her from getting Lungs infections and falling into sever numenia. (she is only 5month old baby girl).
I personally will never recommed Appollo Clinic to anyone.

Rayyz, I received the same information from my organization that Apollo dental clinic has been suspended from AXA Dental Network
Apollo clinic has many complains as I also heard with some of my college and friends.Each doctor of this clinic are supper power, they don't care Management.
Axa insurance has taken off Apollo Clinic from the list of recognized dental clinics in Doha. Axa provides medical insurance to employees and families of majority of oil & gas companies here. This was a fortnight ago or so.
We have always preferred Queen Dental. Their appointments are generally on time and service is excellent.
