Battleground At The Ramada Junction

mariam-mar
By mariam-mar

Everyday, i pass by the Ramada Juction going to Al Nasser Area or to Al Sadd in between  7:15PM-8PM. The traffic at that time is already heavy that the long queue of cars are unmeasurable. It is saddenning to see that the camera at Junction keep flashings as if at the battlegrounds in the Iraq war. Or is it a Candid Camera?

I know and everyone knows it is a real one, but if you try to see and study the flow of the traffic no one could ever drive fast and in some circumstances, if you are already at the edge of the front line and the light is still flashing green, what would a motorist do? If you stop, it would be late to break and the one behind you will surely hit you.Or If you stop and it is still on green light, wouldn't that be annoying.

Ramada Junction is in one way or another a battleground, in the sense that when you are one to pass there, you will be on the battle to win the successful passing without the penalty or making an unavoidable mistakes wheather you like it or not, you are in danger for a hefty fine .

Were you at the Battleground? Come on, share your story...

The Ramada signal is fine folks. The speed limit on that bloody road is set to 60 which is like an insanely slow speed. If you cross 60, the camera is bound to catch you. And everytime the cam flashes, its becoz someone atleast in the fast lane, somehow crossed 60.

At the ramada signal try keeping to the 2nd track. Or you'll have to choose between crazy honking and the insane traffic camera.

On the early morning of Friday, the Ramada Signal is traffic free.

i agree. i live near the centre and have rarely found it  traffic free!

Lamea ... the answer is 'no'. I live just around American Hospital. I used that junction morning, day, night, midnight you name it. And it is never clear.

I guess it will be clear or better when the D ring road open ( the Mid Mac underpass). But then by the time its finish another 100.000 expat arriving in Doha and the government have to build underpass, flyover, highway whatever somewhere else.

during peak traffic ALL alternative routes are equally blocked so i stick to ramada signal.

just out of curiousity, when is the best time to take the ramada junction route? is it ever clear ?

"Make a difference or make way"

No I dont think the violation will appear in one day Mariam. Even in Dubai it takes like around 4 days for the violation to appear......I am sure its gonna be more here. What I noticed when I took the vehicle out yesterday is that there are so many maniac drivers here and they drive even more dangerously than the ones I have encountered in Dubai.

Well the truth is I was at the traffic department yesterday to change my Dubai license to Qatari License. I saw a chap holding excellent quality pictures of his cars number plate and vehicle. He had come to pay the fine there. So i doubt if it were just flashes  Images are being captured......

well since the police man was there and saw with his own eye what was hapening so i guess they won't charge those poor peaple,  i think they can know at the time that the picture was taken if the lights were green or not.....

I was there few days ago in the beanery, and i saw lights flashing more than 20 times while the light was still green !

after a while i left and while i was crossing the road to get to the other side, i saw a traffic police man staying infront of the camera and it was still getting peaple while the light was green,

so i'm sure there was a problem with it....hope they will not charge 50,000QR for the peaple who were caught.....

yes vegas

Iam another one suffering the traffic situation in industrial area. The longest time i have took to reach doha is 2 hours

it wasnt due to any accidents but just the heavy traffic.

i

dont want to mention the accidents in industrial area and the worst

thing is that  accidents occur at the exact point in a round about

or junction when after that no vechicles can go past them

And i drive a manual car in this traffic.

The idea of placing signals on round abouts helped a bit to reduce traffic as well as accidents.

Just one question -  are round abouts with signals only seen in middle east.

Also if I decided to take C-Ring from Al Sadd all the way to RAA on the New Salata Junction also bad traffic, people want to turn left take 3 lanes. So bad.

I need choper.

Yes i have seen this in Ramada signal as well as Airport signal.

I

think airport signal catches more vehicles. its a funny thing to note

that while you are at the airport signal if you look around you can see

surrounded by cameras everywhere.

slow down and avoid tickets

I was just wondering about the amount of money they get from these cameras,

i dont wanna make a donation anyway.......

well, i have to go through the C-ring till Al Sadd every day, too.

i am leaving my house earlier, just to avoid the heavy traffic. but if i wouldn't, then i'd be stuck there for hours (can u imagine that bloody 6-8km takes like 30 mins in the morning?!) and that is not much anyway...

if i would like to come to work exactly at 7:15 am like i'm supposed to, i would get stuck in the worst traffic!...so have to leave early....

but i know what u r talking about mariam.

btw, u've got flashed today as well, didn't u? ;o)

If you're looking for a problem, you're probably gonna find one.

Softly Press on your brakes instead of gas when you are nearing the signal... if you slow down to 70 or 60, the one behind will notice that u are slowing down a bit... and will also slow down... if he sees u determined to beat the green, he/she will definitely speed up with u and tailgate...

The verb, Tailgate, refers to the practice of driving closely behind the rear fender of a preceding vehicle. In qatar it is punishable-- for those of you don't know.

70 and 60 gives u advantage of stopping in time should there be pedestrians or should the light changes to yellow or red all of the sudden.

In US, there was an ad campaign to tell americans that 70 can save pedestrian lives in cases of abrupt and hard braking!  In 80, u could hit a car in front of you, or even the person who suddenly decided to cross the street and was running for toilet...

if u are almost near the stop line and u still see green, it is time to press on gas and go up to no more than 80... when u make it through the traffic light it is time to SPEEEEEEED UP!!!  VROOOOOOOMMMMMM! yeeeehah!

i pass by ramada eeeeeeveryday, no sweat... i decided to keep my cool, leave 3 minutes earlier than usual... esp if u don't make it in the signal... u'll be waiting for 3 minutes, that way u have time to spend in waiting...

better to keep cool and wait than rushing and risking ur car in an accident or fine!

i had 3 accidents already in doha, and i HATE it so much!!! I HATE the big hassle!

i appreciate the traffic lights in Ramada or anywhere else for that matter, for me it enforces discipline to everyone.

Safe driving everyone!

I'm not sure that the camera was working right... it was flashing like a strobe light - and thats just not how it works. Unless they have a high speed camera (unlikely) then it's the flash mechanisim thats gone a bit mad.

I dont think that the police department are in the business of slapping a fine on every single car that went through the junction somehow.... stupid Ramada junction :(
