With all the good will in the world, if you have/got Cockroaches, you will get them forever, they are the one 'thing' on earth that can survive after a nuclear attack.

Live with them. Sorry but it is true.

The first year, we don't have cockroaches and these housepests (ants/bugs) until someone occupied the vacant room 6 months ago. That's when our problems started.

The cockroaches got controlled (for now) but what's irritating is those bed bugs even after i replaced the mattress for that sofa bed. And that sofa bed is less than 8 months old.

There are 7 rooms in the villa and all of us complaining to the landlord about this. The landlord gives us these chemical solutions to spray on the walls, nooks and corners but with kids (and a baby) in the house, even I am suffering from asthma...grrrr

All beds have some bed bugs, even the cleanest beds.

If there are a lot of them, the only answer is to buy a new matress.

I wasn't aware that cockroaches could trigger asthma attacks, I thought it was the dead bed bugs (or their skeletons and husks) that caused the attackes.

Since we're talking about these housepests...any suggestions on how to get rid of bed bugs aside from moving to another accommodation?

there is one dow made from boric acid and it is realllllllllyyyyyy good for 10 days you will lost all "problem makers" in your home and they will not appear for more that one year . You will find it in any supermarket plastic can with picture off cockroaches on it and written boric acid about the name i forget really. It is made from Egypt.

good luck

Take 100 g boric acid powder,

100g milk powder

100 g sugar and little milk to make into little paste stage. Mix all of them and keep in everywhere and close the light. keep watching for a week it will disappear. Especially while going for vacation if you keep in home and close the door and lights u will get surprise. It is a slow poison thats all. It worked out for me and found nearly 200 dead after that since 5years no more cockroach.

for roaches best solution is make a dough of 2tsp boric powder ,half-1tsp milk powder or besan & half tsp sugar make a dough using water & place them in all corners & see the difference.

best suggestions to date is getting lizards into the house.

I wouldn't be without them, in fact we have about four in our house in Turkey. We don't get roaches but they help keep the ants and other creepies under control.

I actually thought this thread was started as a 'funny' story about a cockroach who lived in a flat.  I honestly DID.

cos I read:

COCKROCH

I am living in a flat. I am facing a problem

I'm sorry, but I was waiting for some kind of children's story ... oh dear oh dear.

Where's Corne to shut me up!

awww now im blushing hehe, i kinda like Hoplessly too she's funny and sweet and smart :D... But thats not why im here... I wanted to know if there was any progress with killing the roaches...

Did the traps work, did my lizzard idea work??? did something work or no... if not then call up the Municipal people and they will put some kind of poison in the drains that will kill off all the bugs. We do this 2 times a year and it actually works.

AbuAmerica, i heard about mouse traps, but never about the roach traps.

U know what, just have a bunch of lizzards crawling around the house, they keep the roaches away.

There is a poweder called "Halek" I don't know if it's available in Doha. It is the best of the best for insects. You put it in corners, doors, and windows, and never you will see one again.

change your house for a better less bug infested one. you see , the problem is not the roaches, the problem is their eggs... no matter how much insecticide you spray.. once the eggs are laid, well basically they will hatch someday..and it usually happens when there is no pestcontrol around.... so i advice you to change you flat.....

The pest control process is ongoing, you'll have to spray it every month or two depending on your house. I use the pest control services and there are no cockroaches or other crawling insects in my house.

By anonymous• 25 Mar 2008 15:36

You will have to get the drains checked as they harbour mostly there - the pest control should do this in your bathroom and kitchen. However, I would suggest that yu clean out all cupboards to see if they have eggs there, this all takes time but in the end it ill help.

By anonymous• 25 Mar 2008 15:34

all it takes is for one egg to survive. one egg can contain over 20 roaches. good luck
