Exporting Car From Dubai to Doha- anyone with same experience?

Hello!!!

I am desperate to understand how this exporting a car thing works!!! I have a new Peugeot 2007 hardly 5000 km and I just dont want to sell it in Dubai so Im thinking of transporting it with a carrier by land from Dubai to Doha.

I am curious to know whether anyone had done before, if it was easy and what the procedure would be.

The guy I am dealing with told me he can register my car at the border and get me insurance too!!! I just need a second opinion because I hate it if anyone is trying to fool me.

The only problem is that I am moving to Doha on May 15 and Im planning on shipping the car before I even get my residency. Do you think it is doable?
and what is your experience on that?

Many Thanks!

Hi, I recently moved to Doha and I'm planning to drive my car from Dubai to Doha. If anyone on this forum has experience doing this, kindly explain the whole process. Also, I don't have my resident permit in Doha yet, would that be a problem or would an NOC from the employer suffice?

Do I need to pay tax/duty? If so, how much %? Is there a way to avoid it?

Any useful advise would be appreciated.

Regards,

Noman

Another Question:

Driving from Dubai to Doha.

Is the Saudi Transit Visa available at the Saudi Border Or it should be applied for at the Saudi Consulate in advance?

I appreciate your answer so much!! It is great to finally talk to someone who has done it!

Do you still have the contact number of the shipping company or did u drive it yourself over to Doha?

I don't think it is easy for a woman to obtain a transit visa for SA so i guess this is out of the question.

Other questions:

How much did it cost you to register the car at the border

Did you do your insurance at the border too and how much did that cost?

Im sorry for asking that many questions but I just want someone to help me clarify all the details.

One other problem is that do you think I can register my car without having my residency visa in Doha finalised?

Thank you djnavarro!!!

I hope can get more comments from other people with the same experience.

well I have imported my car from Dubai and I waited for my residence or work visa to be issued first...you have to get export permit from Dubai, first cancell the car registration in Dubai, then they will issue you an export plate, get it insured, that time they required me an NOC from my employer to import the car to Qatar...then contacted a shipping company in Dubai or if you can drive the car to Qatar, all you need is a transit visa for Saudi Arabia, once you are in Qatar pay the necessary tax, have the car inspected with the QTIC and register it
