You don't need an international drivers license to drive here. Just go to the department and get a temporary license. All you need is your license from your country and a copy of your visa and passport. Pay QR150 by credit card (no cash accepted) and you'll get your temporary license immediatelly. Oh, you'll need a picture as well, with colored background (i.e. no white background allowed).

Almost all expat women drive here. It's mainly locals that have drivers. If you can afford one (2000+QR a month) then by all means get one. You can save yourself a lot of frustration, both in driving and trying to find non-existant parking spaces, by having a driver.

Dont try for you will regret it when you get caught without license, they say you will be put to jail for a month before sending you home....

yes u can drive but u have to obtain temporary license first from Traffice Dept.

if you have a valid int'l driv. lic.

and if you are coming on Residence Permit then you can convert your  driving lic.  to a temp Doha Driving lic. till you get your RP stamped on your passport. (Pls. ensure that your Country name is listed among those Countries whose driving lic are convertable) for that you don't need to give driving test !

only eye test report is required.
