IVF in Doha
My husband and I are looking at Hamad Hospital for IVF treatments. We've just gone through one round of IUI at Al-Ahli Hospital with (obviously) no luck. I saw some old remarks about Hamad, but I was hoping that someone reading this forum will have some more up-to-date information. I'd also like to hear about your experience with IVF in general, if you care to share it with me/us. Thanks very much.
is there someone could help me to talk bout ivf,ivf experience in hamad, the success rate, the procedures, the do's & donts etc,,,because im bit worried,,, heres my [email protected] will appreciate to those who will email me..thanks

WHo is the best Doctor for this in DOHA? May I have the contact details please. Thanks
Hi there everyone...
First time poster, so please help me! I may very well be coming to Doha for work (I should be there for an interview as early as this weekend...) and was wondering a few things!
My wife has JUST started a new egg collection cycle that will end in a double transfer of fresh embryos. Now, if this is an unsuccessful cycle, can we bring the remaining embryos with us from Australia, and what is the process?
Does anyone know by chance?
dr.aniruddha malpani is the best. he is in colaba. if you are in kerala there is dr.sathi at trivandrum. very sincere lady not a greedy person. she will try her maximum personally to explain to you all possibilites and also unlike others she will ask you to take some test whether you can bear the pregnancy etc. she is in trivandrum. if you need i can give you full details.
If you want to do it in India try Dr. Mr. & Mrs. Malpani in Mumbai (Colaba). He is world Famous and success Rate is around 28%. You can search about him in the internet.
Cost Indian Rs. 130,000 + Back up medicines.
PM me if you want more information.

I HAVE DONE TWICE BY SPENDING 24000 RIYALS. BOTH THE TIME IT FAILED. SECOND DOCTOR TOLD THERE IS HOPE. DUE TO RUSH I FEEL THERE IS NO TIME FOR SPENDING INDIVIDUAL. DOCTORS ARE IN A HURRY TO FINISH THE FILE AND THEY TELL IF ANY DOUBT ASK THE NURSE. SECODNDLY MAN AND WOMAN CLASSIFICATION. A PERSON WHO DOESN'T KNOW LANGUAGE THERE IS PROBLEM BECAUSE HUSBANDS ARE NOT ALLOWED. AT LEAST FOR MARRIED COUPLE WHILE CONSULTATION TIME THEY SHOULD CALL TOGETHER AND EXPLAIN THE PROBLEMS TO HUSBAND TOO. MAN IS NOT ALLOWED. I DO NOT KNOW WHAT IS THE CHEMISTRY OF THIS.
WHAT I FEEL IS THAT IF YOU ARE AN INDIAN BETTER TRY IN INDIA THERE MANY MANY CLINICS AND HOSPITAL FOR THIS. AND THE CLIMATE TOO IS SUITABLE FOR YOU. HERE THE CLIMATE IS WORST DUE TO EXTREME HEAT TOO YOU WILL SUFFER. MORE THAN HERE THE HORMONES ARE INJECTING LIKE ANYTHING THAT TOO HARM YOUR BODY. BUT THERE ARE SUCCESSFUL CASES TOO IN HAMAD. BUT THOSE I MET IN HAMAD AT MY TIME ALL WERE TELLING THEIR BAD EXPERIENCE. SIMPLY WASTAGE OF LOT OF MONEY.I THINK DR.SHAHATE IS GOOD BUT HE IS EXTREMELY VERY BUSY PERSON AND DIFFICULT TO GET APPOINTMENT. AND ONE FUNNY THING SOME NURSES ADVICE YOU TO GO FOR PRAYER ACCORDING TO THEIR RELIGION. THIS IS ALL HAPPENING IN DOHA. ONE PERSON TOLD ME SHE WILL BRING HER FATHER FOR PRAYING AT OUR HOUSE. THIS IS ALL MEANINGLESS.
I WOULD SUGGEST THAT BETTER IF YOU HAVE FACILITY AT YOUR NATIVE PLACE BETTER DO IT THERE ITSELF. OR IN MUMBAI THERE IS GOOD HOSPITAL WITH HALF PRICE YOUR CAN DO THE SAME.
Aisha-Taweela, that was so touching to read!

Hi Aisha.
I just found out I am pregnant, and was wondering if you had the address of where the office was of Omar.
I phoned them yesterday, but it was fairly broken English and couldn't quite get their location.
Thanks!!
Brianne.
This discussion has been very helpful for me.
I'm also looking to get IVF treatment done. I'd like to get in touch with someone who has had a successful IVF at Hamad or any other place in Doha. Can you also let me know of the cost involved to check whether it's cheaper to fly out and get it done or get it done here. Thanks.

Private 554-bed American managed hospital.
A private gyno who is really into fertility is Dr. Omar Abu Zainab. He is a good man. Give him a try, I dont know if he does IVF, but I imagine as he was really into fertility treatments. I have not seen him for a while and I know his practice is near Gulf cinema or in that area. Cal 180 for his number and then you can call the practice and ask if he does IVF.

I'm so sorry to hear of any negative experiences. That must be so difficult physically and emotionally. I have three relatives and four friends who have had successful IVF at Hamad Hospital. One relative has had three children that way.
The very best of luck to you sincerely.

Steve, really, i am sorry for u and ur wife.
Best of luck in future.
by the way, do u ever think of other treatment as therapy (as mentioned above foot massage etc.)
Well Steve, you've made up my mind! Your post has confirmed the fears I had after registering at the IVF clinic in Hamad. I think I waited 3 hours to see the doctor (after being told I had an appointment ) When I asked him if it was possible to get an appointment he just smiled and said no, I would need to take a ticket and be patient (no good when you have a full time job to hold down!)
Anyway, I wondered - which clinic are you going to now? I've just had an IVF cycle abandoned at Doha Clinic Hospital (no response to the drugs unfortunately). They were OK but the fact that the consultant is only in Doha for a week every two months means that the protocols are not exactly tailored to the individual but rather to when he visits.
Shame that the Al-Ahli doesn't do IVF yet - the facilities are lovely and the doctor is so sweet.
I hope your wife has made a full recovery and that it all works out for you.
Either that, or you have no personal experience of IVF in Hamad Hospital. My wife and I have been trying to have a child for the past 10 years. I won't bore you with the history, but anyone who has gone through IVF or similar treatments without success knows how physically demanding it is on the female partner, and emotionally harrowing for both partners.
We tried Hamad hospital, having read some of the previous threads on QL. The list of bad experiences is both long and shocking. My wife was overdosed on the wrong type of hormone, she suffered fainting spells, hot flushes, and severe stomach pains for a whole year after the treatment. It wasn't until she went to a private clinic in St Peteresburg that she started to make a recovery. The clinic reviewed our file and recommended suing Hamad for gross negligence.
There is another lady we know who tried it at Hamad and went through similar problems. She has just finished at another private clinic outside of Doha (successful) where she showed the medical staff there her Hamad hospital records (which she had to battle hard to get them to hand over), and they were shocked and amazed at the treatment they had been giving this poor woman.
There is only one of the IVF team who has been there for any length of time (and he is about as much use as an underwater hair dryer). Most other doctors only last 14 or 15 months. There is no appointment system - dozens of women hang around the waiting room for hours at a time before they are seen. The reception staff are rude, arrogant, and insensitive. They even try to dish out medical advice to people! If your husband tries to come in with you, he will be ejected. He has to go to security and get a special pass, which has to be signed by the doctor, for whom there is no appointments system to see ..... and so on, ad nauseum.
And that's only the IVF section. The rest of the hospital is just as bad. I have heard horror stories that would have had them sued for millions anywhere else in the world, but the fact is that the bulk of Hamad's patients are poorly paid, unskilled workers who are afraid to question any type of authority, medical or otherwise.
We have just started consultations at another clinic in Doha, my wife having simply had enough of the shabby treatment at Hamad. The consultants there have also expressed some surprise at the treatments given, especially after reviewing the results of the barrage of lab tests that we both had to undergo. Of course, they won't be too critical of Hamad, as they all have to renew their medical practicing licences at some point.
If anyone reading this has had a pleasant experience at Hamad hospital, then I can only say I wish I had your luck.

IVF is in-vitro fertalisation...making a a baby in a non traditional way...
Does IVF mean Inter-Varsity Fellowship? This was a group I was part of in university. Do they have a branch here in Doha?
Can anyone pls give me relative topics links?
At one time I was concidering having IVF, then I saw a program on TV about it, what it involved, the hours of going to the hospital, open your legs, medication etc etc. I realized that I would never get pregnant this way because of a) my work and b) my temperament. So I gave up on the idea. I accepted that I was never going to have a child. Anyway meanwhile I had started to have reflexology. The lady there said that she would do all her best- After a couple of moths refexology, which is good for the body anyway,my thoughts were not with getting pregnant anymore, I was working hard to open my own company. I missed a period. Had a test done. Yes I was pregnant. As I had had several miscarriages before I kept it quite and did not want to think about being pregnant. Well, I still had an appointment with the reflexologist and went as usual. When she started to massage my feet she said she could feel something. Remember she did not know I was pregnant. Anyway I stopped going to her as I got scared she would do a wrong manipulation and make me loose the baby. Also I thought it was quite freaky that she could feel it in my feet. I did not tell anyone I was pregnant untill I was 7.5 months and untill the day my daughter was born I was afraid something would go wrong. After I had delivered my beautiful daughter the reflexologist came to visit me . She had heard that I had a baby. She asked for a reference letter, which I sadly say I never gave her. But she did deserve it. Now with hindsight I must say she deserved everything because I am sure she was very influencial in me getting pregnant.
My recommendation is go and see a good reflexologist. If you are looking for a good one, there is this Thai girl, her name is Mem. She works for this salon in Mamoura. Allochi or something like it. It is on the road (left side) when you drive from the Al Attiyah round about towards the Vegetable market.
Give it a try and wish you the same good luck as I had. My daughter is now 19 years old and still beautiful.

I did as suggested and found that similiar entries were posted re: IVF. Thanks everybody. As many of you may know from experience, I'm just anxious, have a lot of questions and just looking for some feedback/experience from people who have gone through this - especially in Doha. Thanks again...
