A Nanny is someone special. She is a doctor, teacher, cook, driver, cleaner, manager, butler, psychologist and many more in one person.Who else takes care of our children and our household like she does?Who else is working that hard for a low salary?Who else is making overtime again and again?Who else has that rare freetime?Yes,our great Nanny. So it is time to say thank you to all Nannys out there.Thank you,you are doing a great job.Thank you for being a part of our family.Thank you again and again.

I dont know if any Nanny/Housemaid read it,but it came into my mind and i wanted to honour their work.

the name of my yaya (nanny) when i was a child. she left when i was 12. she said i am already a big girl and i dont need her anymore. she returned to her province and perhaps she got married and started a family. until now, i still remember how she cared for me. she was very patient, as i was so stubborn and a little brat.

until now, everyone in the family remembers her. if i would have the chance to see her again, i would invite her over to thank her for all the many goodnesses that she has done.

.... and she is hard working, honest, and loyal to a fault. My teenage son got some sort of idea that she didn't have a name, and should be called "the maid". He also got the idea from somewhere that she shouldn't be allowed to help herself to whatever she wanted out of the fridge, and that there was no reason for him to keep his room tidy, as that was what Cenen was there for.

Needless to say, I steered him in a fatherly fashion towards truth and enlightenment.

Our maid has five children at home in the Philippines, being looked after by their grandmother while she works to put four of them through school (husband ran off with a younger woman and gives no support). Her eldest daughter is studying civil engineering; her second daughter just won a scholarship to continue senior high school; her son is just about to finish his senior year and head to university, and her youngest daughter will start junior high after the summer.

This woman deserves the respect (and possibly awe) of everyone she meets, and I for one feel humbled by the sacrifices that she is making to give her children a better future.

What a nice tribute swissgirl.  Even if some maids dont read this hopefully people who have maids will and can appreciate their maids...Most have left their children to come here and work to help support them, for low wages, thats an ultimate sacrfice...

It is good to know that a lot of people in this side of the world appreciate their nanny's and housemaid's work. It is not easy and we are dependent on them. In a way they are doing responsibilities which are supposed to be ours, specially those with our kids.

Yes we pay them, but then the sense of responsibility and the efforts itself which we are supposed to do is priceless, so our small payment is quite not enough and all we can add up to that is to pay them with appreciation, care and humanely treatment.

These people also left their own kids to take care of ours. Left their houses just to clean ours. Thats how hard life is for some people.

But most importantly I hope those people who treat their nanny's and housemaids like Slaves (not feeding, not paying, raping, hurting and mistreating them) should read and realize all this............... otherwise they can all burn in hell!

Maybe we could have an annual "Housemaids Day". Like mothers day, they get the day off and their employers cook and look after them! Yes I know in reality this will never happen but it's a nice thought..

all i can say is i can never repay the care my nanny has given me. she took care of me since i was 4 years old till i finished my university degree. she is still with us now, together with my mom. she has sacrificed a lot, single and never married, preoccupied with us. we dont consider her a nanny but a family member. and she is entitled all the best the world has to offer...

i love you my manang (thats what i call her) and i miss u so much!
