What a horrible thing to suffer at the hands of someone you called friend. I can imagine that this hurts more than just some random trouble maker attacking you but you should be commended for not bringing his name out in the open.  It shows the kind of person that you are because you thought of his wife and children and how this man's behavior could impact them.  Hopefully he will recognize the kind of man YOU are and regret the loss of a good and decent friend.  Kudos to you!

Thanks Oryx and everyone for your kind support. Thanks to the cleverness of one of the QLer's that he pm'ed, I now know who this guy is. What I don't know is why he has done this.

He is a fat bald western guy who used to be a friend of mine here in Qatar. He has a good job in a bank and a nice wife and two kids. Why he is doing this I have no idea. I know that he is a racist and has a vicious streak in him.

He will now know that I know who he is and I don't expect anymore trouble from him. Its disappointing how depraved some people can be. I have not seen or heard from him in 7 months. If I see him I will spit in his face or worse.

He has a wife and two children and I don't want them to suffer from his actions (after all, they have to live with him). I have not seen him for 7 months. He had some trouble getting an NOC and I think that somehow he blames me for this although I was very supportive of him.

He is now banned from QL and he knows that I know who he is although he was too cowardly to reveal himself intentionally. I don't think any of us will hear from him again. If he pulls this crap again I will report him and expose him. Hopefully this is all over now.

Just to add on to what Richard said - if you are planning on meeting someone you met on line, please take all of the necessary precautions:

1.  Do  your homework and try to get as much information about the individual as you can and attemtp to verify it.

2.  Always arrange the meeting in a public place with a lot of people around.

3. Don't go alone - bring a friend or two.

4.  Always let someone know where you went and who you were meeting with.

5.  Keep a cell phone with you and make sure it is charged.

As this website gets bigger - more and more people will be meeting in person and as we have all witnessed lately there are some real crazies and troublemakers lurking in this forum.
