I agree, as I said perhaps they don't offer it here because of lack of trained staff. Both my water births were in the UK and experienced, highly trained and competent staff attended. It was a magical experience I would still recommend but only somewhere they know what they are doing. As Supernurse said maybe you can labour in water (I actually did with my second and delivered on 'land') for some, water is a great pain reliever in itself, but not for all.
please don't even think about a water birth if the person delivering has no experience. I've never seen it practised in the middle east and it is extremely dodgy.....ok, labour in the water but don't deliver in it. The man who made it 'famous' Michael Odent has now admitted that it is potentially dangerous ( to the baby )...think carefully!
Speaking from personal experience (2 out of 4 children being born in a tub!!) I would highly recommend it!!!!!! I'm quite happy to fill anyone in re: the less than gory details!!!!! As far as I know Al Ahli Hosp. were supposed to offer the facility but maybe they couldn't get the trained staff.
well i have to admit yes i'm considering it .. but when i get married first ..
Irrysa: thanks for the information .. it's really gr8 to know these stuff b4 being involved into it
Spicemom: that was really funny but i'm not thinking about it .. Darn it's hurting and so painfull .. lol
Folks: Why do some ladies prefer to give birth by a surgery rather than a natural way?? is it better or worse?? for whom it's better or worse? for the mum, baby or HUBBY ;) ???

the baby does not know what is waiting for him/her when he/she goes out ... do they? If they knew they would stay there inside forever :) Giving birth under water, on the mountain, in the desert ... they won't tell the difference :) j/k

baby gets oxygen through mommy's body. not in the normal way.
when it is being born in the water there is no thermal shock for the baby and the same goes for the brathing. that's why those babies are born calm without the screaming and steess.
after all when they stay inside woman's body, they are in "water" as well.
If you're looking for a problem, you're probably gonna find one.
she would 've prolly gone thru lesser pain if she had water birthing but then again depends where she was at the time as not all hospitals or countries are equipt with such facilities.........and she'd prolly not be rubbing it in on ya abt the pain she went thru with ya........lol

I can breath under the water .. yeah right ... good luck with that one :)

yes true that is if they are born normally (meaning not in water) so as to enable them to start breathing (or soemthing to that effect , hey i aint no doc.....lol)where as if they are born in water i reckon is the same as when they in their momma's womb and yes they do swim too just like a fish awww the cute tiny lil fish...........
life's too short so make the most of it, you only live but once.......
what i know is .. they should go out first then later, they have to spank the baby and make him/her cry so he/she starts breathing ...
I saw many years back [I was 12 maybe] a report on those kids born under water .. the amazing thing was .... they were swimming under the water without having any breathing problems ... just like the fish :)

Imagine they can swim the moment they r born. It's a gentle introduction to the world by being born in the water. She/he doesnt experience pain or fear when coming in contact with the water as it is the most familiar element to them.

Ram, giving birth in water eases up the cramps for woman, without giving her any medications. it is less stressful for her and the baby.
u should have seen the babies born in the water-they don't scream and cry. it is really cool.
sometimes it is done in a real big water containers...it's amazing that new born baby can swim in it
If you're looking for a problem, you're probably gonna find one.
What is the idea behind giving birth in water .. I mean what make u think of that ... does it make it smoother or something? or what?
