I don't care what Jagermeister is I drink loads of it back home.

I have a stomach problem with too much alchohol and this stuff doesn't have the same effect.

I drink it with about four parts water and ice and I really enjoy it.

If it is a medicine then fine, it works for me.

:)

Well Ducks and Alexa, I was lucky that while I was at coffe shops in Zurich I never had a slip of a tongue , ordering ''a hot Sloggi''!

And since I'm a beer drinker, I'd stay safer with drinks i'm familiar with.

That's why i posted it here in QL to see if anyone knows anything about it.

Thanks, Alexa...

in that case i wonder why the impression which alexa was talking about still prevails...

may be we havent still gotten over the hangover of the war.or maybe it has to do with the words themselves .

in any case they do leave a lasting impression on me.

Actually, it's not german but Swiss german (there is a difference), and it's called "heissi schoggi" :)

Doha, I'm coming! Ducks in Doha from 12th - 18th of May :)

On the other hand, German can be quite raunchy! When I was in Zürich (Obviously I’ve got a thing for umlauts!) I found out that their hot chocolate drink was called Schoggi, which remainds me of a cotton knickers' brand!

Depends on who speaks it Alexa.

I mean, surely German language would make a huge, angry bloke seem even scarier!

very succinctly put super..

it is such a fabulous name.

i always liked the german titles such as fuerhrer oberstumfeurhrer..etc dk if i got the spelling right.

Coca Cola was a medicine too.

Anyhow, what thrills me both with Jägermeister and Underberg is the coarse sound of their names.  They sound so...threatening!

I also love the umlaut of the former!

Oh, wouldn't surprise me at all if that was the orginal purpose, but we know how things morph...

In 1996, I was very surprised to see these deadley small bottles were on the shelves of the shop of an Autobahn petrol station near Frankfurt!  I mean, this stuff can make the car faster by 50 km/h!

Oh, I made a mistake before, I recall it says on the bottle 70 proof, which makes it 35% Vol of ethanol, not 70!

It is not only for after-meal, it can also be a pre-meal aperitif, but you are most right, it is not something one would want to drink alot of.

I know, I know, medicine with a high alcohol content, (70% Vol.)
