Ubuntu/Debian on laptop (driver issues)
hello QL,
I am looking for help concerning the installation of Linux (Debian/Ubuntu) OS onto my laptop.
it does install, but some stuff dont work properly.
I need some debian knowledgeable ppl to install & modify the drivers that are missing.
Anyone who can help me out will get a days full of coffee. :)

over which os you want to instal adobe cs3?
in windows, i thinks its click and go..
in debian, you need wine emulator, i have been using lots of windows based applications in ubuntu, and was quite satisfied with it

expatqatar, I've used around 6 versions of linux in last 2 weeks. I used Ubuntu 7.10, 8, fedora 9, pclinuxos, gos and mindriva. The best one r ubuntu 7.10 and Gos, Gos is the best one actually. Supports most drivers.

i've been a linux user since ubuntu 6 and have been doing well with it,,,
this week i'll try sunmicro "opensolaris" have read good reviews but have to see one for my self... will try gOS as well as suggested.
at the moment I have a dual boot pc, vista (pre installed when i bought the pc) and ubuntu-hardy heron,on virtual inside vitsa realiable xp sp3 .. been tingkering to have triple boot but a bit afraid if things goes out of hand:-)
anyhow, thexonic, will surely ask your ideas when i ever have to encounter some problems , you seem to be a good resource for this stuff.

Well u can update the drivers from the internet.. by teh way I advise you to use gOS, instead of ubuntu, it's based on Ubuntu 7.10, but it is a million time better looking, it has the layout of Mac OS. Check it out. Anyways, try updating your softwares and drivers. I didn't have any problem using it.

nice to know people are starting to use ubuntu.
which one did you use? the latest is hardy heron and i have been using i since it was released last month.
which hardware is not working with your installation? did you run the update?
