All Tenants, would like to know after announcement was published that accomodation rentals should not be increased the next two years, What to do if landlord still insists on increasing rent?
Any proposals?
What does the law say?
Well, Whoami, I guess you've said it right, if this were a just country that is. My landlord requested a raise to the rent and I refused to pay any unnecessary extras, backing myself up by the law. So he went to a lawyer and filed a formal request that I had to evacuate the house since he "suddenly" decided he wanted his son to recide in the house from now on. The court gave me a month's time notice to evacuate.
ignore what snowstorm has said. That's pessism at it's best.
The law is the law.
@nadt, it means that yes the tenant can go through a legal process, yes the tenant will win if the landlord is in breach, yes the landlord will have to pay the fees if there are any for going to court.
I always recommend speaking to a lawyer to give you the best advice but I'm telling you that landlords are finding it harder to get away.
To be honest, those who stay silent deserve to be kicked out because they're not standing up for their rights.

Whoami does that mean if the landlord insists on raising the rent, the tenant has to proceed legal action and if so, is this done through a lawyer or is there a particular organisation you can lodge a complaint...
he can insist all he/she likes, it's illegal. The court will stop it. You don't need to pay a penny in the mean time either while going through the legal process.
