Hello to all,
we are morocan family who live for the moment in Belgium.
With my wife and our 4 children, we'd like to move for 1 year or more in Emirates, Qatar or Saudi Arabia to learn arab because we are non arab speakers.
I have heard that some of arab countries can help people like us to give opportunities to learn arab.
Is it possible? and do you think life in Qatar for example would be great for family like us.

Thanks in advance for your replies.

bon courage.

Thanks to "Princess Habiba" and "Alexa" to give me so much informations.

As I am in first steps of my research of relocation, I will follow your advises. For Egypt, it's an idea but my point of view is to change totally of perspective. If I go in Egypt, it will look like in Morokko. I think way of life and atmosphere will be different in Qatar of emirates.

I'll keep you in touch

gpsman,

May Allah make it easy for you and your family in this endeavor. I think if you find a job in Qatar with good hours then definately you can find the time to learn arabic. They have quite a few classes in and around Doha.

However, if you would like a crash course then I really recommend the fusha program in Egypt, Cairo at the al fajr centre. We have had friends who have benefited a great deal from the program. And speak almost fluent Arabic after only a few months of taking the course.

The only difference is that they also had a basic working knowledge of the language and could easily read the Quran.

p.s the cost for egypt is very cheap as well. If you save up then it may be doable.

Working there, why not but it's not so easy I think if you start there from nothing. And without arabic language more difficult then. Anyway, for you who live there do you think there is work opportunity for one who is graduate in accountancy and has major knownledge in computing and can speak french, dutch and english?

Thanks anyway for you replies.

Coming to Qatar just to learn Arabic may be a problem since about(just an estimation) 80% of the population here are non-arabic speaking. About 20% of the people here are actually Qatari. And Qatari people speak English when communicating with the rest of the population.

If you enroll your children in a school here then I am sure that is the best way to learn Arabic. But enrolling children in schools are not easy....considering money, location, spot available for your children, and subject emphasis as factors. And of course television, and interacting with people who speak Arabic is another way to learn. But I found that people of the same kinda stick with each other which is unfortunate.

Hope this helps. Good luck!
