Would you like to live this long???
ITN - Friday, June 6 10:43 amEurope's oldest man is celebrating his 112th birthday with a flypast from the RAF.

Henry Allingham, who is also the last founding member of the RAF, has been invited to a VIP lunch at RAF Cranwell in Lincolnshire to witness the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. It will be followed by a parachute drop.
Eight of Mr Allingham's grandchildren and great grandchildren and their partners have flown from their homes in the US for the occasion.
And later this afternoon, 40 pupils from Cranwell Primary School will present him with a birthday cake on what is the 90th anniversary year of the RAF.
Mr Allingham said: "I'm a lucky guy. I am looking forward to a wonderful day and to seeing the family. I just hope I don't let the side down. People ask me how I've done it, and I just say that I look forward to another tomorrow."
Mr Allingham is just one of three known UK survivors from the First World War.
The other two are ex-Royal Navy stoker Bill Stone, 107, who was born in Devon but now lives in Oxfordshire, and 109-year-old Harry Patch, who lives in Wells, Somerset, the last surviving Tommy to have served on the Western Front.
He has been awarded a string of accolades including the British War Medal, Victory Medal and the Legion d'honneur, France's highest military honour.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!
There was a case in India some time last year where the lady claimed to be over 110 but couldn't verify it..

I'm not dumping on retired workers but I'm suggesting alternatives. People could get the same benefits but not have to work in a job.
My uncle and aunt retired and they are full-time travellers. They have been doing it for so long that they know how to do it cheaply. They go all over the world with friends or other travellers.
thats my point, for some its their only company :)
I think people should be allowed to work for as long as they are able
My ex boss retired from a well paid job and a year later was working as a "gopher / tea boy" in a factory in Glasgow..
He said he just wanted the company and felt lonely at home!
I know people who continue working after retirement age too, not through greed but to keep themselves alive, as in useful and day to day interaction with others, often when people retire they are at a loss of how to occupy their time
I know a lot of "retired" people who keep on working. They are over 50 and collecting their company pension. But they keep on working in a paid job. For them, working after retirement is doing something for themselves. I wouldn't want to do that. Is that greed or a desire to feel useful and productive?
brandy.. very true.. but as i said.. i aint sure if i'll live beyond that.. you dont need more tahn 5-6 years for a relaxed retired life.. maybe i am saying this coz its far away now.. maybe when its near i will start wishing to live longer...
60 or 65 is still relatively young, too young to be thinking of dying :)
Thats the age when you hopefully finish working and get to do things for yourself, keep living!!! :)
I dunno.. but i guess i wont live beyond 60.. lol.. and even if i live.. i dont think more than 65 is good enough..
thats a really nice answer thank you :)
I want to live longer to see the kind of world that dd will live in. Things I'd like to see....
(1) Will the "war on terror" be over in her lifetime (or will it escalate)?
(2) How will the Internet be used in her lifetime (and related technologies)?
(3) How will the climate change? Is global warming a long-term trend?
(4) What will English sound & look like? What will it evolve into?
(5) How will Christians be treated in her lifetime?
(6) How will she live in her lifetime (treat her kids, progress in her career, treat people less fortunate than her, etc.)
Thats excellent.. Hope the Lord keeps her going for many years to come..
The problem in verifyig age is hat in many countries, birth certificates were not available in those days..

as soon as I become a burden on others thats when I would want to die, this man seems fit and still active, good on him!!! :)
the day I can't wipe my own arse is the day i wanna die.
If I am mobile, have my senses about me and am not dependent on no-one, then why not! No one wants to die!
IF I AM WELL AND FIT SURE!! Y NOT!!!!
BUT AS SOON AS I START GETTING DEPENDENT AND MY BODY CANT SUPPORT ME.. I WOULD REALLY PREFER TO DIE
