as your profile says your from egypt and knowing that doctors in egypt earn crap money! Could you not think of a reason why an egyptian doctor would like to come to doha?

a good bedside manner goes a long way to reassuring patients who are probably scared and if they don't speak the language that must be even worse.

In my local hospital in the UK the doctors and nurses have such a heavy workload they don't have the time for that personal touch, also I know some who went in there for minor surgery and came out with MRSA a disease that can be life threatening.

Cleanliness standards have dropped because of privatisation, companies wanting people to do more work in a shorter space of time for less pay, all these factors add up to poorer health care.

he knows about a good doctor here in Doha who I can followup with and his answer was "If he was a good doctor here why would he seek a job there ..."

What do you think, is this a true statement?

The question is from another patient's point of view not a doctor's or anybody from the medical field.;-)

To be honest, I don't think anyone would say that care in Doha is better than their home country, which is quite bizarre cos most of the healthcare providers are expats!

The impression in my mind of medical practice/service/care here is that its much much below the quality in my home country (Pakistan). But to be fair, i have not been to a lot many docs/hospitals. Just two experiences. And read a few news items on the papers.

Just answering the question.

that'll be because they're probably not trained very well or their managers are crap and let them get away with it!.....

Being accomodating and understanding to patients must be considered also. I would understand if being stressed would be a reason not treating the patients well. I mean, honestly, I've been to an ER here in Doha, I've seen patients being dragged and shouted at simply because they don't understand the language (english) probably. But with the pushing and shouting? It's jsut not right.
