multimillion payout in gay celebrity divorce

Little Britain's Matt Lucas faces Little Britain star Matt Lucas has split from his long-term partner in the first celebrity gay 'divorce'.

The couple underwent a civil partnership 18 months ago, which means that Kevin McGee can by law expect a large chunk of the comedian's estimated £15 million fortune.
Lucas has employed Mishcon de Reya, the same solicitors used by Heather Mills in her divorce from Paul McCartney, and by Princess Diana.

One legal source said last night that 31-year-old McGee should expect a house, a period of financial maintenance and substantial lump sum considering they co-habited for much of the four years they were together before the civil union - and also considering the TV producer supported Lucas as his career was taking off.

This is the first time a high-profile wealthy gay couple have dissolved their legal union.

Friends told the Mail the couple had grown apart and 'fallen out of love' against a background of 34-year-old Lucas's spiralling fame in Britain and America.
'They have been seeing less and less of eachother. Matt and Kevin used to have so much in common but his career has taken off while Kevin has stayed in the same place. They are not the same people as they were when they started dating six years ago.

'They have grown apart and fallen out of love. It happens in gay relationships just the same as in straight ones. There is nothing more dramatic in it than that.

'There have been arguments and things said and after a while it has become draining and upsetting. It has been enormously painful for them both to admit they are better off apart.'

'There was much soul-searching between them. Matt is really concerned because it does not do much for the image of gay civil partnerships. But he thinks that you can't live in a loveless marriage and if it's over, then it's over.'

The couple were married in a civil partnership ceremony 18 months ago, and they will be the first wealthy celebrity gay couple to 'divorce' since the law was changed to allow same-sex ceremonies in December 2005.
The rules on civil partnership dissolution are broadly the same as those for divorce.
The courts will, for example, have the power to order that one partner pays maintenance, or hands over part of their pension.

'Rights and responsibilities on dissolution will include fair arrangements for property and asset division, residence arrangements and appropriate contact with children. This is the same as divorce,' according to gay rights lobbying group Stonewall.

It is not known whether Lucas and McGee signed a 'pre-civil partnership agreement' - the equivalent of a pre-nup - to secure Lucas's burgeoning fortune.
A friends of the couple added: 'Matt is not looking for a legal battle. He hopes Kevin will take a swift out of court settlement. He hopes the details of the break-up will remain private.'

Their dissolution certainly bucks the trend. There is a low-rate of break-ups between gay civil partners since the law changed. However, the initial swell of same-sex couples exchanging vows has significantly tailed off.
Yesterday they said their split was "amicable".

A joint statement from legal representatives Mishcon de Reya and Withers LLP said: 'It is with sadness that Matt and Kevin announce that their relationship has come to an end. Their separation is amicable.

'They ask the press to respect their privacy at this time and to exercise restraint in any reporting of this matter.'

God gives us the will and the intelligence and the tools to do what we want to in life, he is not responsible for what we do with the tools he gave us.

If I give you a bike and you fall off the bicycle while riding it, am I responsible for that - no - you fell off and you were riding the bike not me. Get it!!!!

Canary...well as of now, I aint participating in a subject specific discussion about Gays and Inter-breeding or whatever marraiges...well yes I do understand about the fact about cultures and societies...but all I m saying is its not fair and its freaking uncalled for dragging God into every damn thing!!!SO UNFAIR, I MEAN HE ALSO NEEDS REST ...

GYPPO: What are you shocked about...again went right above my head girl...come on clear it out, you shocked for ???

Dmightysolomon...aaah my friend, I never ever said that I aint God Fearing, God Loving, God Worthy, God this and God that...O MY GOD, (LOL!) All I m saying is it isnt right for you all to DRAG GOD INTO EVERY DAMN DISCUSSION, this has nothing to do with freaking morality you highly moral spirit...take it easy and look at this in the light of it man, look at the article, and say such a waste of Money .. or something like that...but not " THIS IS CERTAINLY NOT THE ACT OF GOD ", GEEEEEZUZ man, you yourself or neither me nor anyone know what the actual Act of God is, we are put in here on the world with a reason, might as well serve our azzes first and if we are able to do that with being for yourself and for others, then I guess thats the first step to the Act of God...but not creating every topic, every discussion and turning it towards taking it to God my friend, come on LEAVE HIM ALONE!!! CHRIST MAN!!!

God is not responsible for this it is the "imbreeding" in society and genes gone wrong. Families intermarrying into each other etc. etc.

Do you know that in the royalty once upon a time they were growing tails because of this??

"Come on guys, if there was a time that GOD WOULD EVER SAY SOMETHING THEN BE IT NOW STRAIGHT FROM THE GOD'S MOUTH, TO ALL YOU SICK FREAKS ON HERE, DONT YOU HEAR, GOD IS SAYING "FOR ONCE YOU DUMBOS, LEAVE ME ALONE AND TALK IT OUT YOURSELF, DONT FREAKING DRAG ME INTO IT"

People tell me this,

why does every topic thats on QL except the select few have to turn towards God and his Will, I mean cant you sick freaks keep it clean off religion, beliefs, and Values, and ofcourse Morality,

This is a thread where in you need to get amazed at the way the world is heading out and the way the money is being earned into the market...not FREAKING RELIGION...

Come on guys, if there was a time that GOD WOULD EVER SAY SOMETHING THEN BE IT NOW STRAIGHT FROM THE GOD'S MOUTH, TO ALL YOU SICK FREAKS ON HERE, DONT YOU HEAR, GOD IS SAYING "FOR ONCE YOU DUMBOS, LEAVE ME ALONE AND TALK IT OUT YOURSELF, DONT FREAKING DRAG ME INTO IT"

Well if it is, take a look around you in the Arab nations, then there is something wrong don't you think?? I refer to "slightly inborn".

Marriages in the same family and cousins/ sisters/brothers hmmm lot to think about here.

The family is forever integrated don't you think??

By anonymous• 19 Jun 2008 08:24
anonymous

The personality per se is not a problem. It was medically proven that gays and lesbian behavior appeared to be slightly in-born and developed unknowingly or encouraged during growing up period. But what is disgusting is having a sexual relationship between same sex. The Bible is very clear about it unless someone doesn't really believe in the Bible, then nobody should contradict that it is against moral values and against God's will. Where will they end up, guess everybody knows.............
