Qtel is NOT blocking VoIP or other voice chatting services... the ONLY thing they dont want people to use is calling cards... because they lose alot of money...from other calling cards and thats the reason there is something new now... DAWLI calling cards.. try them...it good.. :)
Well it's against the law to use certain calling cards here, so I guess it's the same with VoIP. If that's the case then Qtel are right in the eyes of the law.
Blocking the VOIP service is not the answer. Where they block one service, four more will spring up because the principal of demand and supply has already kicked in.
Are they right to block it? No.
If it impacts their survival then maybe, but this is questionnable. Q-Tel is a monopoly. It's survival is not dependant on long distance revenue alone.
A whole new branch of revenue, mobile phones, has opened up in last decade or so. That's what it should be, and as far as I can tell, is focusing on.
Calmping down on VOIP is counter-productive and annoying its customers. Guess what, as soon as competition opens up, its customers are going to leave in a rush.
MR KICHEN..IF IM OWNING A COMPANY, AND CUSTOMER ARE GOING FOR OTHER PRODUCTS, THEN I WILL NOTTT TRY TO BLOCK OTHER PRODUCTS ,I WILL TRY TO "IMPOROVE" MY PRODUCTS, SO NO WILL GO ANYWHERE!!
Sure, it's right!! because if you have the ability to speak VoIP all day long without paying a buck that would lead to Qtel's death and thus voip death :D
i guess they should allow the people to use the VoIP.. they should have freedom on it .. if they provide better service than others, obviosuly people would prefer Qtel first.
not only Qtels service is having problem, but also too expensive too compare to other service providers in neighbour countries .. u cant simply pressure or insist anyone to use their service ..
Its stupid to block these services for personal use. Then why should the offer ADSL services, VOIP is one of the feature of technological advancement on internet.
If their services are affected, they should close and ban those who are doing at as a business and should block selling of commercial voip cards.
I think they are. If you owned a company, and people were using one of your services to avoid using one of your other services, wouldn't you attempt to block it?
