Hi all ,

I will move to Qatar on Monday and will work here approximately for 1 year . I would like to know are there any jazz clubs , or bars with good live music .

I was an ex professional bass player and I also want to meet with good musicians who play jazz , rock or alternative .

You can call Habanos bar at the Ritz, they sometimes have events such as Jazz Nights.

So korkmazalp, you're impressed with my Turkish speaking skills! Well now I have to confess that that was pretty much my entire vocabulary right there! :-D

I lived in Turkey when I was a little kid, but have forgotten pretty much all the Turkish I knew, as it was, well, shall we say more than a few years ago, lol

Hey I know some bridge players too, lol, but unfortunately all women's groups who play during the day while their hubbies are at work.

Oh well, I'm sure you'll find someone once you get here and ask around. Or you can ask here on QL

By the way , where do you learn Turkish :)

Greetings from Turkey ,

korkmazalp, here are links to jazz band and jazz orchestra. As you can see, the schedules are outdated but you can find contact info to find out when and where their upcoming gigs will be. Not much happening during the summer, but no doubt they will be active again in the fall. They are very good. Chris Coull is amazing on the trumpet and flugelhorn. (Cok guzel!!) :-)

I would love to live in Turkey, but don't think that will be happening for me any time soon. Will have to settle for visits now and then.

I believe Dweller is already living there.

Korkmazalp, I know some jazz musicians, but they're all away for the summer. They play at the Ritz and I think at Garvey's, as well as a few events around town.

I will have to PM you with more info if I can find it.

Marhaba..Welcome to Qatar.
