What life is like in Qatar compare to Kuwait?

Hello Guys

Me and my partner will be moving to Qatar in September. We are originally from the UK and have been working and living in Kuwait for 4 years.

One of the reasons we decided to leave Kuwait is about all rules and restrictions i.e. no drinks, no clubs and not much of a freedom. :(

Just wondered what life is like in Qatar compares to Kuwait?? We have been living in the Middle East (Kuwait, Dubai, Iraq) for more than 6 years. I think we kinda got some general ideas, but never been in Qatar before except for the airport.

Can anybody give us some general ideas, please?

Many thanks
Kate

Hi ,

I am a Turkish citizen and I will move to Qatar for a long term project within 10 days .

In Turkey , places have to get licenced for selling alcoholic drinks , not people . Is there any problem to take alcohol licence for a Turkish citizen ? If there is , is it possible to drink alcohol ( or go to a bar or a night club ) without licence ?

I agree with Jeney and macgyver. Qatar is certainly more open compared to Kuwait. The people of Qatar are so nice and caring. I am sure you will love to stay longer and longer in Qatar.

I agree with Janey. Qatar's more open compared to Kuwait. What I hate about these country is the traffic. I think too much road and building constructions are affecting the traffic flow.

Well, Qatar is a bit more open compared to Kuwait. We have clubs (not that much though), alcohol (you'll have to acquire an alcohol license first) and people are generally nice here.

You must not forget though that this is still a Muslim country so we try and adhere to such issues such as proper dress code.. etc.

I've only been here for 3 years. So far, that's what I can say about Qatar. :)
