Women arrested in sex competition
ATHENS (Reuters) - Nine British women were facing prostitution charges after being arrested at the weekend for taking part in an oral sex competition in the Greek holiday island of Zakynthos, police said on Monday.
Six British and six Greek men, including two bar owners, were also charged in the incident, which took place at Laganas beach in the south of the Ionian island, which lies off the west coast of mainland Greece, police said.
The women, who came to the popular resort on holiday, had been paid to take part in the competition, which was video recorded and was to be posted on the Internet, police said.
The men were charged with encouraging obscene behavior.
In recent years, Laganas has established itself as one of Greece's most popular destinations for twenty-something holidaymakers and is known for its wild party scene.
Around 15 million people -- a fifth of them British -- visit the eastern Mediterranean country each year, drawn by its soaring summer temperatures, azure waters and sandy beaches.
Let's just say that some faces just stick out in a crowd. Have you ever been to a strip club in Vegas?
Few points to be clarified:
1. why did they talk about oral sex instead of blow job. In such a case they were involved in a job and not practicing sex
2. Did not tell if "facial" took place
3. if it is a prostitution case, then there should be evidences that the girls received cash
4. the report did not talk about the stage during which they were arrested. was it before, in the middle or after?
5. what were the facial expression and reaction of the parties involved: the girls, the boys, the organizing committee and the police?
6. did the police tell the ladies the charges and their rights at arrest time?
7. who will pay the hotel expenses - where the ladies were staying - since they are now in custody?

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Best-selling novelist Andre Dubus III says he never intended to write a 9/11 novel but instead set out to craft a short story about a stripper.
Despite that, Dubus' new book "The Garden of Last Days" became an epic novel featuring a 9/11 hijacker seeking comfort at a grungy Florida strip club just four days before he would make his dark mark on history in the September 11 attacks.

I don't think they'll lose many tourists if they dealt harshly with them..
Alcohol merely lowers ones inhibitions; to do that kind of thing, regardless of how much drink, implies some real underlying issues with the women in question. I blame bad parenting, after all the kids get most of their morals from their parents though obviously these can be easily twisted and distorted, especially with the modern media. Sex and violence is now common-place on tv sets throughout the world.

I wouldn't put anything in my mouth I havn't seen washed first, food that is by the way, the thought of what they did makes me feel sick, these women have no excuse, drink isn't the be all and end all excuse
However, as an older (shall we say "more mature"?) man, I can honestly say that when I was in my late teens and early twenties, I wouldn't have cared less about the woman.
Not like nowadays, where I would feel that I at the very least should buy a few dinners, go to the theatre, and possibly even be introduced to her cat before there was any chance of a bit of nonsense going on.

A lot of these people work hard all year, they scrape by enough money after the ridiculous cost of tax and living in the UK, to be able to afford to take a week or two off, to go to a sunny country and take a well earned break.
The Bar owners throw " 2 for 1 " offers or have " happy hour" just to entice them to part with their cash, cos the bar owners are greedy.
These younger people then drink to excess and this is the result.
