Countries like UAE (Dubai especially) has successfully moved from Oil economy to market economy. But wheather its market economy will sustain without oil and gas.

Abu Dhabi has switched over to solar in big way and big investment.
Still solar and tidal energy are expensive and not so used.
I hope some thing will come up till then .....
Before Oil/Gas finishes hope we don't have to face WW3 in this region.we might have to go old ways,it will suit Indians as we have lot of bulls..Good Luck and GOD save this world..
With the current Oil Price hikes... Other countries are starting to utilize the use of so-called "Alternative Fuels/ Oils". When this instance becomes a world-wide trend, the demand for Oil which is mostly coming from the Gulf region will become less...

That will be the dawn of a new world order, assuming of course that we all survive WW3 which will be all about controlling the last reserves of the precious juice. What we see today in US presence in the region is already the runner-up to such a struggle. But the other oil junkies, namely China, Russia and the EU won't just sit back and watch the US compromise their their strategic security. It will get real messy I assure you.
We will go back to riding camels and living in bedwin tents in the dessert! What say, wanna join us nomads?
