I've finally managed to find a Villa, but the Real Estate company that showed me it has just presented me with a bill for QAR5000 commission!!!!!

Is this common practice and the going rate?this seems very hefty to me and surely the payment should come from the landlord for finding someone to live in his property.

This seems a very lucrative line of work if you can get it.

I was shocked to know but it is quite common in Qatar. Some agents charge 2 months worth of rental, so 5k is not that bad.
