Also note, article 78:

"the worker shall be entitled to annually, leave with full wage as follows:

3 days eid al adha

3 days eid al fitr

1 day independance day"

I signed a contract with a company which states that I only get paid on public holidays if I work the days. Does this take precedence over the labor laws?

True

labour departmen, human rights as well no differentiation between religion here

Good friend, the labour law does not differentiate between religions (as I initially thought)!

I have a copy of it on my desk right now :o)

Also note, article 78:

"the worker shall be entitled to annually, leave with full wage as follows:

3 days eid al adha

3 days eid al fitr

1 day independance day"

If you have to work article 75 applies (a different day/s off at another time and shall be paid for working the eid days at minimum 150%)

Damn! You are right!! Qatar Labour Law is even better than the KSA version :o)

Article 73: ".... with the exception of Ramadan when the maximum working hours shall be thirty six hours per week at the rate of six hours per day."

Any hours above this (up to a max of 10 hours per day)will be paid as overtime as per article 74

Of course all this is irrelevent if you are a manager :o(

In Ramadan, the working hours are 6+1(break) for non muslim and 5+1 for muslims. This are per labour law. All the companies should addhere to it. If your company forces you to stay over, you must be paid over time.

As per my knowledge the Ramadan Timing is for all, irrespective of Religion and the timing is 6 hours a Day. Many companies are not following the timing. The employee has the right to complain in Labour Department.

Remember, Ramadan timing is for MUSLIM staff only. The rest of us still have to work a full day!
