Hi everybody!

We have been here for just ovr a month and though we enjoy the food, we also miss our old favs, like bacon and sausage. we are aware that being a muslim country, pork is not a general stock on sale-but is there a supermarket or market where you can get wall's sausages and bacon as well as puff pastry? Our little boy loves sausages but has been unable to get used to the beef ones sold in supermarkets. Anybody know of a place, pls giv us a shout.
cheers!

I'm sorry you really can't compare real pork with turkey or beef products. Especially sausages! Chicken sausages taste like I'm eating sawdust and turkey products are too salty. Don't even get me started on veal bacon BLECH!

Alexa - I totally agree with you, abt the sausage.

Vegas - baby backs.....dang yr makin things all that more difficult now...had actually not thought abt them for a while.....

Lada06 - soo agree wz you. We used to do a nice fry up b'fast wz bacon at least once a week .....hmmmmm!I can live without the Vinndaloo & Sorpatel (indian pork dishes) ...but bacon is proving to be a little more challenging!

Expatreotic - guess we're just gonna have to hang in there untill we make a visit home!!

@Novita, I can quite openly say that I've tasted bacon. By mistake. When I was 15 and in the UK, I didn't realize things were automatically pork based unless you ask otherwise (like Peperoni, bacon etc..) because I was so used to Turkey bacon.

However, I can say it did nothing for me and I much prefer Turkey bacon (as do my Ozzy colleagues :D)

It's all a matter of taste after all, but I feel the 'craving' for pork is psychological. People want it more because it's not allowed.

At home I would enjoy pork/sausage/bacon/ham at least twice a week (mostly for breakfast or in sandwiches). Very rarely eat beef - mostly chicken, fish and pork.

People here and in Saudi complain of not having access to Pork or Bacon..

How often would you eat bacon or pork, if you were atr home ?

Do you really miss it or is it just because its banned?

they were accused of selling pork and no evidence but still in prison because some idiots Nepalese pointed them as they were caught and said they are selling pork. so be very careful unless you are working at the base then were allowed to have pork at home but not allowed to re-sell it.

It's so simple to be wise. Just think of something stupid, then don't say it.

you can get into deep trouble for buying pork stuff.
